Re: WJ FA Strike Outcome Predictions
Booked a flight on WJ today. Half of what AC is charging. Must be mostly empty. Usually the duopoly have the same prices. Pushing back right now. Maybe 25% full. Porter yesterday……not one empty seat. Think a few might have tried to see how good they are. In my option…….pretty good, but it was the b...

Re: Wearing sunscreen
Wear a long sleeve shirt and keep put the shade up if there's direct sunlight. The cockpit windows block most UV light, so you should be fine. I wouldn't listen to a guy advocating for long sleeves. Tells you everything you need to know. "block most UV" So you won't get a sunburn, just skin cancer....

Re: WJ FA Strike Outcome Predictions
The strike will mostly hurt Alberta and the federal government wants Albertans to feel like they are helpless without them so they may not intervene this time. What's the point of divisional posts? This is talking about the same PM who approved an Alberta pipeline a few weeks ago Because logic does...

Re: Flair Pilots Better Starting & Top End Pay Now?!
Problem is there's still the "who wouldn't want the honour of working for AC?" arrogance out there. Add in a dash of the 30yo upgrading to captain and running his/her silly little podcast and/or mentorship buisness; while strutting around in our stupid train conductor hats thinking they're God for b...

Re: Next Ground School
I think you’re better off going to CN or corporate. CN=Canadian North? Really? So I can fly an ATR-42 out of Ottawa to a gravel strip in the middle of nowhere? I mean, I'm not knocking that for those who choose it. But personally, I think Jazz will be a better gig. As for corporate, I know people w...

I hope your goal is not AC then, jazz is not the way there. Totally fine if you’re looking at other options. Westjet will start hiring eventually I know how much former Jazz employees all love to say how much it sucks and they hate it. But we've all gotta start somewhere, and if Jazz is the one tha...

Re: Remove AR, reduce upgrade time?
Its crazy there are 70 year old dudes still wanting fly! Honest question. Why? There are several careers where people work till death. Politicians, Lawyers, surgeons, artists, to name a few (there’s actually a couple of people in their 70s working at my local Safeway) Imagine comparing those jobs y...

And/or the privilege of flying with former SWG pilots setting some arbitrary N1 settings for go arounds (with no corresponding climb performance numbers). Oh - give it a rest you two. Nobodies perfect. I can come up with all kinds of stupid shit both Westjet and Sunwing crews have done. Just give i...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
Rudder has offered lots of "advice" and all of it with an odd sense of self assured arrogance. And of course they can't explain. I find it so odd how many people who don't work at Jazz, seem to be so adamant that we don't file a common employer. Their advice is apparently for us to just admit that ...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
So it’s a waste of time/member dues to file a section 35 but a good use of time/member dues to file a grievance for the violation of flow to provide compensation to people who don’t even work for Jazz anymore? How the hell does that make any sense? As for grieving the exclusivity clause violation a...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
Encore does not have a stronger case than Jazz pilots. How can you honestly say that with a straight face? WestJet ownership of Encore is the starting point, not the obstacle. The employer relationship already exists. Jazz would be asking the CIRB to impose one after the fact, without ownership, by...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the
I'd like to know who is going to pay for this common employer application? 5-10 years of litigation, the only ones laughing here are the blood sucking lawyers! There's no way I want my dues money going towards something so pointless and divisive. Your own MEC is split on the issue. Get your house i...

Re: Who Wants to Fly WJ
Still people are tired of the bitching... especially from an airline that was about to go bankrupt. You’re kidding, right? The all-bases group chat is a nonstop stream of complaints about absolutely everything. Apparently that’s fine when it’s coming from legacy WestJet pilots, but everyone else is...

I actually enjoye working here and I get along great with everyone. But this company is antiquated. My attitude is not a dig at the pilots. So don't take it personal. Re: Who Wants to Fly WJ
This is the most antiquated airline I've ever worked for. The regional airline I worked for in the early 2000s had better IT services. JDE and Rain Maker (should be Day Force). Wings, Trim, Flica, and WS Crew View for scheduling. Old SOPs and long checklist. Making manual altitude callouts on appro...
