Re: Sharing a plane experience

Also a very good experience with a plane share here. Beware though that it can turn sour even with just one bad share owner. Try to meet all of them in person and make your best guesstimate as far as whether any of them will be a potential headache or not. The quality of the plane itself is secondar...

Re: Steep turns

It's an illusion to think any pilot being judged in performing a steep turn will have a good lookout for other traffic during this particular exercise. Isn't that why the HASEL check and other equivalents get executed? How would the student ever practice steep turns solo? By looking around the area...

Re: Most efficent way to get CPL in Toronto? (Relatively inexpensive & faster)

This is exactly what I was looking for! I wanted a flexible schedule similar to this with likeminded people, but wasn't sure if it was even possible. As you can see, I am very new to the aviation scene. Thank you so very much. Would you have any recommendations as to where I can start the search fo...

Re: Most efficent way to get CPL in Toronto? (Relatively inexpensive & faster)

Data point for the OP... I went the plane share route and it worked out very nicely. I started off training part time (once a week) for about four months, got the plane share, and then went all-in full time and got my PPL + CPL six months later. My total cost for both is $26k. If you add miscellaneo...

Re: Private Plane Lease Back To Flight School - any ideas?

Might be easiest to join or form a plane share, and then hire a freelance instructor. When you start splitting the fixed costs with 4-5 other people, it becomes a very reasonable proposition.

With Google Street view, yes... you can toggle different time stamps. With Google maps overhead satellite view... not too sure.

Re: CYTZ on Google Earth

The latest satellite images for CYTZ in Google Maps interestingly now has all airplanes shown... even the Porter planes that were parked on 24/06 for a while there are right on the imagery.

Re: IAP profile views, Left or Right

I echo the comment above... It must be the direction of the approach.

If you look at the table above the profile view that has the glide slope intercept altitudes, even those are reversed depending on the way you look at it, as it matches up with the profile view.

Re: Instructor Rating Or Multi+IFR

I don't think there's a clear cut answer between instructing and tossing bags with the hopes of getting right seat, if your goal is getting hours. Some people enjoy teaching, and some don't. That's really what you should ask yourself. I've come across instructors who are just in it for hours.... The...

Re: Experience with plane sharing

Plane sharing worked out very well for me. I got lucky and fell into a group who barely flew, so I essentially had access to the plane 24/7. Nothing blew up during the time I had the share. To top it off, I was then able to sell the share for more than what I had paid to get in. As for costs, I was ...

How much IMC time can one actually get when you'd ice up in the winter and run into CBs in the summer?

A freelance instructor can't provide a plane. Once you have a plane to your name, I'm sure it won't be hard to find a freelance to come work with you.

It might make more sense for you to provide the dual instruction in which case you log PIC and your friend logs dual. You will need to advise the minister in writing as per CAR 406.03 (3)
As a Class 4, I don't think he can log anything, otherwise it's considered freelance work, no?

I'm looking for... - interesting/unique views along the way - restaurant or place to eat nearby the destination airport - within 250NM or so radius (maximum) out of CYOO - cheap fuel / no landin...
