Why does it matter? If you live near an airport then expect there to be airplanes in the sky.

Who puts that on a resume? Lame!iflyforpie wrote: I'll tell you right now... if I get a resume from someone who has had lots of engine failures over their career I'd probably toss it.... either for their poor aircraft operation or continuing to fly for operators who run such lousy equipment.![]()

No matter what the cause of the crash was, let's all remember that this was somebody's son, somebody's cousin, somebody's entire reason for being. Let's be respectful towards him and his family/friends no matter what was found in his body.

Some details in the proper forum http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=118&t=84560 Right, thanks. Sorry, I'm not all that familiar with the inner workings of AvCanada. My mistake. Re: ATR versus Dash
The Dash-8 series carries ice much better than the ATR-42 -72 series. With the exception of the Q400, the ATRs are a wee bit faster in cruise. Have you flown the ATR in ice? Because I will argue with you all day on that point. The Dash 8 does just fine with ice as does the ATR. I've never flown a D...

Re: Would you leave your current job for AC?
I got PFO'd in 2005. I went to work for an airline in the north and have never looked back since and am quite satisfied with my decision. Air Canada is broken. It's a dead-gig. I wouldn't recommend the place to my worst enemy. I have had a handful of friends go there in the past couple years and all...

Disclaimer:- I do not fly for Emirates but I operate long haul flights. I'm not commenting on any specifics regarding this flight as I wasn't there. I'm purely providing background information. Flightplanning long haul flights is quite complex as there are a lot of variables - especially on a long ...

Re: What If I dont want to work for Air Canada....
I would be perfectly happy making $30,000 flying around some dinky plane. Why is everyone so hell bent on just getting hours and upgrading their rating to the next bigger and faster plane. Well westcoasting, when life hits you with a kid, a mortgage, a wife, etc, making $30,000 just doesn't quite c...

I'm curious where those diagrams came from... they just don't make sense in all cases. Take CYXP (Pangnirtung) for example, or even CYCY (Clyde River)... at PT altitude you would definitely hit granite if you followed those diagrams to a T.
Just saying.

Maybe we could get rid of ATC and all these silly rules. Profesional pilots can just look out the window for seperation. They can save money going NORDO. Joe's right though if they woke up the pilot of the small plane or something they would be heroes. I'll hazard a guess that a lot of us started o...

Re: "We could have problems with the fuel" NS emergency land
Did the pilots declare a fuel emergency or a minimum fuel advisory? I have done the minimum fuel advisory in the past, it's only to alert ATC that any further delay could result in a fuel emergency: TC AIM: 1.8.2 Minimum Fuel Advisory Pilots may experience situations where delays caused by traffic, ...

Re: Best places you guys and gals have flown too
If you can organize some av-gas, then I suggest flying up to Baffin Island, through Iqaluit (CYFB) then on over to Pangnirtung (CYXP) through the fjord to Qikiktarjuaq (CYVM) then up the coast to Clyde River (CYCY) then onto Pond Inlet (CYIO) From there you could either continue north or head east t...

My intention was not to sound as though I think it's overrated. Quite the contrary, I appreciate the fact that there are many factors to consider, and I want to get a better idea of what they are. Like flying4dollars, I also would like to move back to B.C. some day to fly there, thus my desire to l...

Re: IFR in the mountains
You're right, it's overrated. Let me know when you make it into CYXP in the dark with a gusty south westerly wind while following the only approach in there (NDB of course)... or better yet, since you're VFR experienced, go VFR
Good luck.
