Re: Picking up opentime

I hope they investigate the bot users. Imagine using bots, and then not being able to so much as drop a pairing for a couple years... Or ever? What you get is what you work. Karma. I'm curious as to how this will play out and hope someone from WJ updates us when a solution is found. But I wouldn't ...

Re: Is Buttonville Holding a Farewell Event?

I’ll always remember landing there in a midsize business jet, as a new FO. What a rush. Great little airport, friendly staff at the FBO. Flew in one last time early July this year before I moved onto a new job. Shame to see the place go just to become a shopping mall. Sucks to be a student pilot in ...

Re: Training bond Write off with CRA

Talked with my accountant about a bond I’ll be writing off this year. All the documents in hand etc. He said it should be fine however the CRA might come asking why it’s an “employment expense” worst case I have a valid story to tell.

Yes. It is not a hard requirement to have 705 time anymore. Lots of my friends went from cooperate aviation or 704 operators to AC in the past 15 months.

One of my 3 references took his sweet time, didn’t respond till day 12 post interview when I got the reference request. He responded after I politely reminded him and 20 mins later WestJet called and offered me a job.

Re: YYC Rentals Soar to $1800 on Average

One could live in YQF and drive to YYC or YEG for their assignments. You'd make a 2 hour reserve callout easily. Even easier once you can bid for long call or a block of your choice.

This forum has been very eye opening for prospective guys like myself. The consensus seems to be AC pros: pension diversity of work job security WB pay? WJ pros: SB - better schedule albeit junior/senior lifestyle vacation Alberta bases This is just from what I've gathered and I'm sure there are fa...

Re: ATPL Application process tips

I brought my printed logbook (I use logtenpro to log) at TC's offices in Montreal on June 22, they called me today to come and pick up my binder and to sign my license, sticker should be in the mail. I wanted to signature right away, but I could have just waited for the sticker. I have read on this...

Re: Air Canada vs WestJet

For me it came down to wanting to stay with family and in Alberta. So for me, WestJet is the best employer if I want to stay in YEG long term. I lived in YYZ for a year with my previous job and can confidently say I have zero interest in living there ever again. A training captain of mine gave me so...

Re: FTU Pay scale

I would hope there’s a difference between class 4 and 3 wages, and I’m sure there is. But besides that, it’s a pretty typical pay level these days. Personally I think the class 2 rate is a bit low, but the 1 rate is spot on.

Re: EVair off the run way art yvr

I think I remember seeing the condition code at 3/3/3 for the north runway. Wonder why they didn’t use the other one which was 5/5/5 Not sure but seeing as this was a taxiway excursion, it is not an issue. Yea my bad, however it still gives some kind of unofficial indication into the friction of th...

Re: Have you had Laser eye surgery?

You have to remember this is government, and they're fairly useless, impotent and slow to do anything. Just don't tell them you're getting it done. Get the surgery when you're on the start of a chunk of days off, preferably a week or two. If you're unlucky enough to have a complication ground yours...

Unfortunately the answer is it depends where you drop off the application. I’m out in Toronto and dropped it off at the Yonge street office. I had my sticker in 35 days. My friends back home at the YEG and YYC office.. not so lucky, 5+ months. When did you send it if you don't mind me asking. I'm i...

They're not cheap, they just choose not to give their money to you.

The thing is, most schools are run by the cheapest people on the planet with no business sense whatsoever. Freelance on the other hand can be very relaxed and rewarding as a part time gig. I’m talking about teaching someone you know for a PPL in their 152 or a couple night ratings here and there. I ...

Can AC even strike next year during negotiations given the 2012 precedent? Heck I don’t even know if WestJet could either. You gotta ask yourself if the Canadian Government would let them.
