Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
Well by that same logic, tell that to Jazz pilots with kids and mortgages who were contractually supposed to flow in 2022 and 2023 who have been held behind while OTS hires with their wet 737 ratings or 703 command time are now senior to us as we continue to “protect the AC network”. You can absolu...

Just out of curiosity... Why do you think the Express hiring portal has been temporary shutdown?
Would it be to protect the current list of applicants?

Re: DEC Jazz
I heard there's big delays getting your ATPL signed off with TC. Probably causing issues not just at Jazz but 703/704 as well for upgrading. Most 703/704 COMs don't require captain to have ATPL. You mostly require ATPL to be a training captain. Some companies will require ATPL for insurance/experie...

Re: Flow through to AC
A contract is a contract. We accepted lower wages for the FOs while getting the guarantee 60% (max 10% rejection).
ALPA MEC better be defending the contract.

Re: King Air / B1900 - IATRA?
Keep in mind as well, if you plan to jump to a 705 carrier with your IATRA and you flew the 1900, your IATRA hasn't been "activated". Make sure to look out for the expiry of your exam in that regards.

Re: New hire bids
Those captain vacancies are mind blowing... Can we expect a lot of 703/704 people to make the jump directly from a King Air to a left seat Q?
I'm wondering how much Jazz' training department and procedures are ready to accommodate those kind of candidates.

Re: US Airlines Hiring Canadians
There are around 14,000 current ATP licenses issued in Canada. The estimates for pilot shortages in the US have a need for 8000-12,000 ATPs in the US in 2023. I don't think Canadians are the solution to the American pilot shortage, but the US allowing Canadians to fill those spots is part of the sol...

Re: Job Posting
Anyone heard anything post interview regarding Sim evals? From what I’ve heard it sounds like sims will be in yvr or yyz, no mention about yyc Mount Royal sim being used. Sounds like the May class will be smaller as some current pilots are still awaiting initials. No news yet, I'm assuming it's gon...

Re: Pay Scale at Keewatin?
Is it me or I feel Keewatin will be one of the first operator to suffer from the upcoming hiring cycle? Is there any minimum requirements for experience with the medevac contract they have? If so, how can they attract a rotational 200 captain with 60 000$, while I can go at Jazz and make a tiny bit ...

"The initial review of applications will begin on the "Apply by Date" indicated" (Apply by Date: May 31, 2022). Which mean they should have taken a look yet at applicants ? Yes. HireVue questionnaire got sent already to some applicants. It was basically the same questions as when the first phone ca...

Re: Best guess when hiring will happen
How are things going in the training department? I heard someone who was in the March 14th Gs got called back earlier then originally planned. A good sign ? I don’t want to jump the gun, but I have a feeling we will get a call in January to start the process and redo whatever tests they will require…

2022 Hiring Outlook - New restrictions?
So Trudeau just announces the renewal of the advisory against non essential travel tonight. The good thing about it, it's only advisory. And it was there for the most part of 2020 and 2021. Now, with everything happening around Canada (rising cases, rising ICU admission), are you scared about the ou...

If you want to check and see what TC has as your expiry date I don't know about you, but my file doesn't show an expiry date, only the dates of examination, audiogram and ECG (and mine hasn't changed for 4 years, still shows 2017 as my last data for the 3 (even if I have done several medicals and E...

Medical validity
I currently hold a Class 1 medical. I did my 2019 medical march 25, 2019 (exp. april 1st, 2020) In 2020, I did the attestation of fitness to maintain my medical. In 2021, I renew in february. I am allowed to keep my original expiry date of April 1st again in 2022? I believe I do. REF: 404.04 (8(a)) ...
