Re: Flight school delays - Covid19
I was less than 60 days away from "freedom" and off to flight training school I was going, it sounds funny now to think about it.... I get it RedAndWhiteBarron. I have been trying to figure out how its all going to go now, what path will make sense. I've settled on let the cards fall where they may....

Re: Flight school delays - Covid19
I'm hesitant to even post again as I assume it will likely fall on deaf ears, but I still feel its important. The link below is the growing list of doctors, nurses and healthcare officials that have died so far from Covid 19. In case you are wondering they were not wearing jeans and a T-shirt or eve...

Re: Flight school delays - Covid19
You don’t seem to understand that people can have the virus and spread it without showing any symptoms, or several days before actually becoming sick. That’s why we have the “physical distancing” rules which you cannot follow in the cockpit of a plane. If that's really true (there's no real proof -...

Re: Which path to take?
I’m a volunteer EMR on our fire department. The paramedics all seem to be young. There seems to be a lot of turnover despite the good pay. I also know quite a few people who “used to be” paramedics. More than any other profession. Think about why so many people leave that field. Paramedic for two y...

Re: The return of bonds?
Ah okay, I thought they were a way for smaller operators to ensure you would at least stay long enough to cover the cost of the training they initially put into you. But if they are essentially praying on younger pilots then I would have to agree with you.

Re: Manitoba to pembroke on floats
Should be nice by then, its a really nice area I have enjoyed my time here. I may be gone by then, I am waiting to start my flight training. I spend a lot of time on the beach with my little guy and there is a float plane that flies over the beach towards Quebec, it makes multiple trips all the time...

Flight sim adjunct
Hello all, I am wondering if it is at all worth it to get a flight sim setup before I start flight training? Nothing crazy likely just yoke and throttle set. My wife is a gamer so she already has a nice setup with a gaming chair and systems. I'm not trying to replace any of my upcoming training I ju...

Re: HOW TO FINANCE YOUR FLIGHT TRAINING
All I know is banks would offer 40k student line of credit if enrolled full time. Which is clearly not enough for minimum of 60k training. When I was looking into Harv's I thought they were low 40's all in? and I have heard nothing bad about them. I am currently doing their online ground school wai...

Re: HOW TO FINANCE YOUR FLIGHT TRAINING
Not for FTUs such as the BFCs, DFCs, etc. of the world. It would have to be something like Seneca for it to be covered by OSAP, which sounds like the OP isn't interested in doing. Interestingly, Harvs Air, all the way in Manitoba, does qualify for OSAP. So if you're looking for something quick/modu...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
Heard yesterday they have their 6, and are supposed to be taking another 6 in April. Also heard that there is already some arguing going on with CAE program directors and Seneca about flight time priority. Thanks a lot TwinOtterFan. I’m gonna assume applicant/hiree ratio is very low as the program ...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
Hello guys, Reading the conversation about this program was very enlightening. I think both sides have very valid points. I have to admit that the scheme does look tempting, albeit a bit pricey. I was just wondering if anyone was already hired through this program and what to expect. Thanks in adva...

If SuperchargedBS wants to come up to the base and meet some "snowflakes" I'm sure I can introduce him to some. I'm currently serving in Northern Ontario. Or maybe he can come tell some of the families of some of my co workers who tragically took there own life since I have been posted here how weak...

Hello all, Just wondering if anybody has any experience with this WFG? I have been approached recently by someone that I have known for years and do trust, but most of the stuff I find online with them seems to be negative and such. Just figured I would check on here if anybody has any first hand ex...

The wife and I took a run down there last summer on the motorcycle just to see the runway. tarmac was in okay shape, nothing else really there. TC Canada still has all there signs up so I imagine they are still the actual owners.

O.K. Hiflychick here is a story I wrote many years ago for a book I never got around to writing. If you have the time to read this it will better explain why crop dusting was my favourite job. The worst jobs were scheduled airline and air show flying. *************************************...

Re: Which company is being chartered for the Corona Virus Flights?
Haven’t seen it reported anywhere but I suspect it could be the same Kalitta B744F that the Americans used with palletized seating. It was interesting that it appeared to be operated without any passenger 02 or escape slide provisions. Desperate times I guess. We ride in the Globemaster all the tim...
