Re: Jet or Turboprop STARS

Q400s fly jet stars and usually have turbo prop departure speed restrictions waived.

Re: Operating different machines.

" backing into the loading dock at Wal-Mart" wow, if it were that easy! I've never backed into a Wal-Mart loading dock ever, but I've taken a rocking back and forth loaded fuel truck into places that most people wouldn't take their 4x4 pickups into Want an award? Go land a plane at minimums on a 25...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program

Go to North Wright then. Go pound through your MIFR CPL in 10 months in Winnipeg and move. Funny you should say that, I was just told that we are being posted and the wife and I both put Winnipeg as our preference. There ya go. Check out Harv's Air in Steinbach. They are a go to flight school for p...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program

Hello all, I have been following this thread for a few days now. I'm enlightened and a little disappointed. When I first seen the announcement from Jazz I was pretty excited. Not because I'm a kid of a rich parent, but a 38 year old guy who is rounding out 10 years of service (in the CAF on the gro...

Re: College of Pilots?

From my understanding, ALPA in the USA basically gave them everything they wanted including an independent seat at the "big table." But they still got all hung up on a policy that really doesn't exist .. the merger policy. And walked. ALPA is fed up with their antics so yeah maybe ALPA doesn't want ...

Re: College of Pilots?

They also did some shady stuff at the ALPA National meeting, using their pull to essentially say they would not join if a regional pilot was president. At a meeting they were invited to as observers. Doesn't surprise me. ACPA fucked themselves. On a positive note when the merger goes through we all ...

Re: College of Pilots?

Can't even get ACPA to work together with ALPA and your think we'll have a College Of Pilots? Lol. The closest thing would be if Air Canada pilots pulled their heads out if their ass and finally realized joining ALPA might not be such a bad idea. I believe its ALPA that won't work with ACPA. Not ac...

Re: Commuting with Swoop

I'd sooner work for a Halifax based 704/705 company than commute to SWOOP of all places.

You'll probably take home more money if you fly for PAL or EVAS.

Captain Joe is actually cool. I also don't mind Trent Palmer.

It's the Swaynes and Steveos and Flight Chops people I can't stand.

Yes go work at AC and be the lowest paid 777 FO on the planet! Sorry how much do 737 Captains make at Swoop again? Everyone is always so quick to blame AC for their pay. I blame the Westjet, Swoops and Air Transats of Canada. Hard to bargain raises when your only competition pays poverty wages. Mor...

Re: Do you need a valid ppc to ferry aircraft?

Ah ok. Should be good to go then. Kinda scary though that any random pilot can go fly a PC12 with a single engine PPL.

Well I guess not anyone, since you'd need insurance.

Cat Driver , I want to start by apologizing for my comment about the hollowed-out watermelon. I was drinking after work (flying planes) and it seemed like a funny comment to make at the time. I've been thinking about your question, and I believe the truth can be found by breaking things down into d...

Re: Do you need a valid ppc to ferry aircraft?

Aren't PC12s only registerable under 604? If that's the case I'd imagine you need a PPC. I might be wrong but I thought there was something special about PC12s in Canada where they can't be operated just privately.

BALLS, GGGQ. You are cherry-picking just as outrageously as anyone else. Weight limits? Load restrictions? Road atlas? 75 foot vehicle? Hazmat? Load security? Winter ops? Fatigue? Dunnage? Come on. I was talking about "differences", not "Things That Are Exactly The Same". So what if you don't know ...

Re: Minimum rest in the 703 world

Booking off sick worked great for the crew of AC 759... Canada should be embarrassed by our duty rules, even the new ones. More likely to see a pilot book off because of smog in Beijing or Dehli, civil unrest in HK or Santiago over being tired. Especially when that phone call comes offering draft o...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program

I never really found to be babysitting unless they were like super fresh off LI. Most of my more memorable pairings were with younger pilots who were all pretty inexperienced and new. They were always keen to learn and do the best they could. Can't say the same for some of the Sr FOs who thought the...
