Re: ALPA Petition
Oh boy, if you thought an innocuous statement like that was an insult, maybe you should change your username to snowflake. You can say that again. No the plan is not to insult people, it is to provide facts to quash rumours that individuals such as he continue to spread without any evidence to back...

Re: ALPA Petition
Thanks for your post, but I'm still staring at that elephant in the room which you ignored! If ALPA so easily walked away from over 600 C3 pilots, what's stopping them from doing it again? What kind of union is it that abandons its members when dues stop coming in? C3 senior management made some ho...

Re: Smaller Westjet vs Pay Pilots
To state the obvious, in case of a strike by WestJet pilots, Sunwing, not to mention Encore will continue flying in accordance with their contracts and carry the load, which would be quite ironic given the bargaining capital WestJet MEC has put in negotiating for Encore!! Even if that were the case...

Re: ALPA Petition
I have to admit I haven't read the whole thread, but the title is enough for me to have concerns! Remembering how ALPA abandoned Canada 3000 pilots, I'd be in no rush to sign over the dotted line! Why is it that Canadians ask an American corporation to "come and fix their problems"?! It's like Pale...

Re: Are Air Canada pilots the lowest paid in the world?
Well, that's better!! Honestly though, this should be number one, because by eliminating the four years of flat pay, the entire scale is lifted. I believe going forward the scale gets flatter, with smaller gains between steps. This is what's been happening in the U.S as well.

Re: Are Air Canada pilots the lowest paid in the world?
Naturally to fix the pay problem at Air Canada and improve its pay, FOUR LOOONNNG years of flat pay have to disappear! That's where it starts! At the very least, that will raise the scale by four years. Everyone seems to focus so much on US pay, but they forget that the starting pay there is around...

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
I heard Sunwing is deploying tails to Europe this summer? If that's the case it'll be pretty hard to cover any flying if WS are on strike. Also, I know full well if I was a SWG pilot asked to cover WS flying during a strike I wouldn't be showing up. Sick/Personal days/Call it whatever you want. Not...

Re: New pay scales
The Sunwing pay looks decent on the captain side but still looks a bit low on the FO side. In my opinion a mid sized jet (737, 320, etc) FO should be making $100/hour year one to survive the cost of living in major Canadian cities. For too long, carriers have institutionalized ‘probation pay’. That...

Re: How long to get YYC base
I don’t think your union would allow a Capt 10 years out of seniority, my guess would be a 737 rebid. All swoop pilots would be in a position they can actually hold. If you want to be on the “list” you must hold the position you can hold on the list. Well ace, that ain’t my union, but I’m sure you’...

Re: TA Passed
Ostensibly some WestJet pilots are very critical of Flair’s contract as an example of “lowering the standard”. This doesn’t seem to be the case as there is a sizeable increase and also it would be expecting too much from a new ULCC to better the WOWCON of WestJet in its first real contract, not to m...

Re: How long to get YYC base
Rebid, sidebid, mybid or whatever else a few may fancy is another fantasy that cannot happen as it will be an arbitrary decision to the detriment of a group of members, not to mention there can be “no bump, no flush” during mergers.

Re: Sunwing Airlines Bringing Foreign Pilots This Winter
It can never be good economics on the part of a government to “reward” those who work and contribute to the economy by taking more than half of their money in taxes!! Somehow it continues to elude the socialists/communists! It’s bizarre!!

Re: CTA launches formal probe into Flair
That Flair is in breach of foreign ownership and control laws has already been presented by the CTA in its ruling, but instead of replying to it and taking concrete steps to bring itself into compliance, Flair has tried to request a year and half more advantage over its competitors from another gove...

Re: CTA launches formal probe into Flair
Flair has received 11.3 millions government funding to date. 3 millions from federal economic development agency of southern Ontario in April 2021 and 8.3 from western economic diversification in August 2021. The funding from 777 was being advanced at the same time Flair was taking funding from the ...

Re: Transat AT seeking additional government funding after reporting $114.3M Q1 loss
That sums up exactly why the TRZ shares are trading at $4.60 today (market capitalization of C$175MM). Denial. Alternate reality. Hope. Recall this is a corporation with 2019 revenues of C$2.9B. AC shares were also worth more than zero the day it filed on April Fool’s Day 2003. TRZ has already been...

Re: CTA launches formal probe into Flair
Some emotional arguments ostensibly from Flair crowd which is understandable, but in final analysis none of it matters. Imagine if it were United pumping billions into Air Canada, and controlling its board, you will likely feel differently. The issue is control of the airline and its board, not what...
