Re: From Float flying to Airlines?

Do what you want to do. I loved my time flying floats and wouldn't trade it, BUT if you are say 28-30+ and your goal is the airlines if you can find a MIFR job now that would be more ideal for career progression. But you'll miss out on some good fun flying. Flying a Navajo around or PC12 will still ...

Re: Swoop Terrain Warning

ATC will give you a direct, off airway, clearance below sector altitudes. Not in Canada, as per the NavCanada MANOPs and AIC 19/17. http://www.navcanada.ca/EN/products-and-services/Documents/AIP/Current/part_5_aic/5aic_eng_2017_19.pdf#top I don't read ATC manuals, but I know what my responsibility ...

Re: New TC Cannabis rules

As expected, it will take time before the studies are done and we know more about impairment. 28 days is likely not the final outcome, it will be much less. But until we have the data, they are being extra conservative with the rules. I expect within 10 years we'll be down to an hours/days limit. An...

Re: Shortage of Military pilots

Who cares about the 20-30 year olds being hired? I really don't understand why these arguments keep being brought up. Yes, you will never be a 777 or 787 Captain. But in a few years you can have a VERY cushy job as a 777/787 FO, or a mid list NB CA and make well over $200,000 a year working a decent...

Why don't you guys lay off the cyber bullying? Was this person's video really so offensive? I didn't see it. It was pretty embarrassing... bragging about making 10k+ a month as a year 2 or 3 capt at jazz working "minimal" overtime.... Literally impossible unless u do 110+ hours Probably took 5 week...

Ok thank for the reply. 14 days at home is better than 12 what I currently get Max days worked on the NB is 16. No max on the WB, but when I commuted from YVR to YYZ for an RP position (reserve and then jr block) I worked 9-12 days a month, and usually 2/4 trips at minimum I could commute in the sa...

If you really need to know 25nm safe just look at the approach plate. 100nm safe is all you need for a STAR as long as you follow the STAR! You can't just cut off sections as you please, it's not the same as ATC telling you to go DCT GOREG because you are radar controlled at that point and THEY tak...

When I interviewed for my first ifr job I brought a bottle of rum and bullshit with the CP for a few hours. Then pestered him for weeks until he hired me. Is that not how everyone does it?

I took it years ago, took the exam a few days after and nearly aced it. If it's anything close to the same yes it's worth it.

Honestly just do it on your own. Go to a few schools and sit down with them and tell them you are there to pound through everything and want to have somewhat of "syllabus.." I know Pro IFR, Harv's and PFC all do this for private students. Brampton probably does as well. Don't go in blind. Go in with...

The emperor wears no clothes. If you asked a stock broker what he thought about you buying a half million dollars of a single stock in a company leveraged at 75% or even 90 or 95% with annual fees of tens of thousands of dollars and tens of thousands more dollars to sell out and cash in.... he’d pr...
