Do they really, really and for true, mean it this time?
I don't blame them for it really, but by god, they've pushed this date back so many times now, I'm not putting any stock in it until I actually see them flying.

Re: Happy Treason Day!
As a foreigner here, I have not felt welcomed at all. Lived in the states for a number of years (not american) very very welcoming. And don't sit there and tell me that I feel welcomed. I hardly know an expat here who feels welcomed by the canadians. I can't speak for everyone, but speaking for mys...

Re: Sky-high housing prices causing psychological harm
That's a pretty broad statement - without journalists, power answers to no-one. Sure, the majority of them are clickbait chasing vultures, but this world would be a far worse place without the good ones.

What do you mean "take the risk" you guys are going to length to say that there is no risk from vaccines. No. We go to length to say the vaccine carries less risk than the virus. You guys are bat shit crazy. Go to China if you don't want to live in a free society. Personal attacks will not help you...

Re: 3 BA pilots died following their 2nd jab this last week
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/long-term-effects.html I suggest you read about the long term effects of COVID and make your decision after being informed. As far as I'm concerned, the amount of people getting COVID is small enough not to worry. Moreso, it's mostly the unvaccinated who ar...

Yep, I see it now. Took a bit of head scratching but now it seems obvious. Digit's method will find best endurance.

Re: Drag Curve - Best range
As I understand, the method Digits describes will in fact approximate the power setting at the point where the tangent passes through the origin. No, it doesn't. Okay, how about a theoretical exercise then? Where would you think that the exercise would land you on the power curve? I think it would ...

Re: Drag Curve - Best range
In my older notes, I found this description of the technique, which is what I used to try it out: o Start from speed for maximum endurance o Add power 100 RPM at a time, let airspeed stabilize and trim look at the airspeed increase o Continue until the largest increase in airspeed for a 100 RPM i...

Re: Drag Curve - Best range
Wouldn't this work for fixed pitch props: - fly at lowest rpm that keeps you airborne (gives you your best endurance speed as well) - add 50 rpm, note airspeed increase. - repeat, keep track of airspeed increase (eg 2 kts) - once the airspeed increase decreases, you found your max range setting I b...

Re: Drag Curve - Best range
Energy is also wasted as heat. I don't know the general rule for aero engines, but for liquid cooled automotive engines, around ⅔ of the energy produced is turned into heat rather than forward movement. So even if we accept that fuel quantity is proportional to energy, the assumption that the requir...

Almost 3 billion doses administered globally, and case counts falling everywhere. It's almost as if some folks don't understand the preponderance of evidence... Most folks do not understand the power of statistics manipulation as a tool for rhetoric. (That technique goes back at least 2500 years by...

Re: Share your secrets on demonstrating a cross-control stall/spin in a C172!
Sure, I get it. But a spin cannot be entered without some element of cross control (required to be un coordinated). That's not entirely true, in my experience. I recently did some spin training in an airframe with washed-in, laminar flow wings. If you stall it in a turn, it spins - almost every tim...
