Re: Life Insurance

When I got my first flying job, which was defined as "bush" through the insurers, I was quoted between 2 and 300 per month. This was through a couple of different banks.

I went through PPIP and my premium is $34/mo for comparable coverage. I did not have an ATPL.

Re: IFR currency required for training flights

You can just file a vfr flight plan and then request to do simulated IFR approaches. Obviously you'll need to be in VMC, but if ATC needs to boot you out for traffic they can, no requirement to accomodate you for traffic separation.

Re: Hanging up the headset... anyone done it ? Anyone thinking of it?

Hell i have 30 years as a firefighter and i am 51. I’ve thought about a change to FSS or something similar lately. I had a ...

Re: Insurance on an Aviation Medical

Contact a company called Professional Pilots Insurance Plan. They have very good rates compared to anywhere else I looked. I believe there is loss of medical included.

Re: Using rudder to turn

Actually, reading your post again, I see that they did a "flat turn" with no bank. Strange, because like you say, the stall speed is influenced by G force, and you can easily make a high bank angle turn at one g if the nose is falling through. Still an interesting topic.

Re: Using rudder to turn

Using the rudder to push the nose around is a technique used by ag pilots in a low energy/high bank angle (90 degree bank or greater) scenario. If the nose is falling through the turn, the aircraft cannot stall. The wings are also brought back to level using rudder to pull out of the dive. Using ail...

Re: Skylink Planes

Correct, some aircraft do not have GPS capability and fly using traditional NAV aids. None of skylink's planes are certified for RNAV approaches. If you are considering working there, take into account the following: F/O pay is 33k/yr 1yr bond, approx $16k Upgrades also bonded No benefits Pay your o...
