Re: Best practices for owning aircraft via corporation
Would the aircraft need to be registered as a commercial aircraft? I don't think so -- the corporation would not need an operator certificate (not doing sightseeing or anything like that). I believe the CARs permits flight training if you are affiliated with the corporation.

Re: Best practices for owning aircraft via corporation
Sales tax wouldn't be an issue either way, since all your costs include sales tax which, if you're collecting sales tax on your "fees", you would be able to offset. True, tax credits should be available for everything but the engine maintenance fund. Oh, but that is just a deferred expense, so that...

Best practices for owning aircraft via corporation
Looking to start a corporation to co-own an aircraft. Have discussed with a few potential shareholders on doing this, instead of a co-ownership/partnership agreement. What are the best practices for owning via corporation? Essentially I'm looking for the missing manual. :-) Here is how I think it wo...

Trenton Military Terminal Area
I was looking at making a flight from Kingston to Toronto, and noticed that there is a huge Military Terminal Area surrounding Trenton. How do I navigate that airspace? Says its class E, but I’m always a bit worried when it says military. Can I fly through as long as I stay clear of the controlled a...

How useful is the VFR OTT rating?
Hey everyone, I have been thinking about getting the VFR OTT rating. Currently hold a plan PPL. I would like to increase my instrument proficiency overall, and I like the challenge of more precise radio navigation. The aircraft I fly doesn't have a certified GPS. Now, aside of the joys of having ano...

C150 budget
Hey everyone, I am looking to purchase a C150 for some flying around the patch. However, I am a complete new to ownership and would appreciate any advice on what to budget for, and how much. I want to consider a purchase with full knowledge of what things cost as to avoid surprises down the line. Pl...

Re: Transition between aircraft
Thanks everyone, this is super interesting and helpful. I was looking through the CAR:s but couldn't find anything other than the blanket privileges mentioned. The only reference I have is from my PPL is all single pilot, non-high performance, single engine land aeroplanes.

Transition between aircraft
Are there any formal rules for private pilots transitioning between aircraft? Does one need a formal checkout by a CFI for a transition from a C150 to C172? What about C172 to PA28? Or is an experienced pilot that is current sufficient? (I am assuming non-complex aircraft.)

Private Pilot and Ultralight Time
I recently begun flying an advanced ultralight and have been logging this time seperately. However, after some thinking, I became unsure what this time counts as. I have considered this simply UL time, but as I am flying the AULA under privilege of my PPL, does it count as SEP PIC time? I have check...
