Re: What next?
At this point you really should just be looking for any job that pays you money.
And if it involves flying airplanes, count your blessings.

Re: Layoffs
Flat pay should be flat. If it is X amount when you are busy it should still be X amount when you're not. That's a risk you take when you set up something like flat salary. Bingo. The whole point of a guarantee for such low pay is so it' can't go lower. AC pilots already work for substandard wages ...

Re: Layoffs
Hard to layoff a mixed fleet of pilots from the bottom up when current speculation is this will be nearing completion in a few months.
Layoffs need to last much longer than 3-6 months to be financially viable.

Re: Who's gotten a lay off?
Things are literally changing by the hour. I wouldn't put a lot of trust in website that long term. All I know is if there's one thing ACPA for all their faults doesn't @#$! around with it's scope. And if AC is seeing layoffs but Sky and Jazz are still flying our routes around you can be sure they w...

Bro you ain't gonna be interviewing for a while at Jazz.
Have you not been following the mass layoffs at Sunwing, Porter, WestJet, PasCo, and soon to be Air Transat?
Jazz isn't much farther behind.

China also locked down essentially the entire country, in their homes.
In Canada I still see people showing up to work coughing and going to bars/clubs.
People need to stop comparing us to any asian country full stop.

Re: Corona Virus
The last couple days confirmed cases in Canada increased by about 30%/day, currently at about 600. If cases increased by the same rate for 30 days, we would see 1.5 million. In 40, about 22 million. Not saying that will actually happen, but it illustrates the problem. Misinformation and panic is th...

Re: Corona Virus
Not that bad? I think it's just a different age group. Keep in mind South Korea got a handle on this LONG ago, well before the stage we already are at in Canada. Not to mention many people in SK wear masks when they are sick (which only help the spread of disease) and are much more socially aware wh...

Most millennials I know are pretty hard workers, driven and at least have a head on their shoulders. Most. I know there are many that aren't.
However this new his new Tik Tok/YouTube generation on the other hand.....

Yup just heard. Dang.
Says they will try to do other voluntary stuff first.
Maybe some of the original "owners" who sold their millions of dollars of stock can go enjoy the lakehouse permanently.

Re: The return of bonds?
If that was the case most bonds would be $2500 on things like Navajos.
Instead you have places doing "training" on empty legs they are getting paid for and making pilots sign $15,000 bonds for something that cost nothing or VERY little.
It's there to manipulate pilots, that's it.

Re: The return of bonds?
Bonds have always been a shady way for shitty operators to push their pilots to do things they shouldn't in fear of losing their job. There are enough reputable operators out there that don't have bonds, and if EVERYONE just walked away every time they were told you need to sign a bond they would AL...

Loads have been garbage for two+ weeks. It's only going to get worse, especially Asia where many of the passengers are likely not PR or citizens.

Re: Corona Virus
If this is the worst crisis you go through in your life....life is pretty good. Just saying. I'm getting tired over the hysteria of no TP and isolation for a few weeks. Just not that big a deal. What is a big deal though is if people DON'T take it seriously and we end up with huge amounts of people...
