Sukhoi Superjet Lands Gear up in KEF

This will not be good for sales. Apparently certification official on board(this not confirmed), doing single engine crosswind flapless landing. Thankfully all survived. this is the second SSJ to have a mishap. Are there any other FTV's flying?

Re: GO JAZZ GO

I'll respond to a couple of the last posts, and then graciously bow out so that the topic can continue on as normal. To Miha and Loopa: My first job was 1999 making 36K as a twin cessna FO, 6 months later captain at 48K per annum, and never looked back. Now, I realise that the industry is changing, ...

Referring to northern pilot. How are the days off granted? Also, do they hire FO's or just Captains. If they do hire FO's are they upgraded or are they there to fill the seat? I just noticed that I left out one key word in my last post. ....i was asking a question as well.... I edited it to ...

Is it the kind of place you where you know your days off in advance, and the company respects them, or you find out about your days off at the last minute, or after you've already had them?

To all those that berated me.... I sincerely hope you get a better contract. I'd be happy to walk the line with you if necessary. I'd never work at Jazz though, if I have a choice. I'd get out of aviation if I was forced to work for that kind of money....and I know the money goes up. But damn, it's ...

Re: GO JAZZ GO

Folks, I know that the hiring is a positive sign, but it just has to be said: It shows the horribly sad state of the industry when all you guys/gals are bouncing off the ceiling with excitement at making 34K per year. I made about 25K in my first year of instructing in 1998, and from 1999 onwards go...

I finally dug it up....we do have the ops spec...i am really surprised how little our guys knew about this stuff....when some of the senior guys didn't know(I've only been in this job for a few months), i didn't bother to look initially because I assumed they would know what ops specs we have for th...

Re: Lower Than Std T/O LImits - USA

You will be restricted by the canadian t/o alternate rules -- US rules are based on all engines operating and the canadian rules based on engine inop -- So, you're saying that other than the T/O alternate restriction, we'd be authorized to use the Adequate Vis Ref limits based on the fact that we h...

Re: Lower Than Std T/O LImits - USA

We have specific Ops Specs for U.S. operations listed in our company ops manual on in addition to our Canadian Ops Specs. I believe that there is a cost involved as well. So do we, and I looked through them and there is no Ops Spec for lower than std vis take off in the US Ops Spec. The airport I a...

Re: Lower Than Std T/O LImits - USA

the plate says STD: RVR 50 or 1 The plate also says: Adequate Vis Ref: RVR 1600 or 1/4 The "Adequate Vis Ref" requires an OpsSpec, so the more restrictive concept doesn't necessarily make sense here....at least not to me. We have the OpsSpec in Canada, so can we use the OpSpec authorization in the U...

Lower Than Std T/O LImits - USA

Maybe someone can help:

If a Canadian operator has the 1/4 mile or 600 RVR T/O OpSpec, for a flight in the US, does said Canadian operator need a US OpSpec to exercise the same privilege, or does the TC OpsSpec apply for the operator when in the US as well?

Thanks in advance.

NP

Leather Flight Bag - Free

I have a flight bag that I don't need. It's about 10 years old, black leather, a bit bigger than most bags I have seen, so great for storage of books, etc, headset. It's ideal for commercial students. It's free to whomever can pick it up. YVR.

Let's just say a company gets the union it deserves. Glad to hear everyone is ok. Terrace is nasty in a snowstorm at night. Shouldn't the captain have been flying an approach in these conditions? Not to discredit the FO at all, I am an FO myself.
