Re: Retirements at Westjet

The four pilots were let go with cause for posting negative opinions about the company. In Canada, that is considered to be just cause.

Re: Pivot Announces New Routes out of Kitchener (CYKF)

I'm guessing there is an exclusivity deal with the airport for a while, though I doubt this operation will last to the end of it given who is on the management 'team'. If they do last until the routes open up, I look forward to seeing Encore and Jazz come in and do some steamrolling. Who would pay ...

The Normal just got a little bit further delayed . Another new strain will further delay deployment of new vaccines .

You’re not far off... this is the new normal.

Follow up to date recommendations from your local health unit.

Stop being stupid idiots arguing about why experts are wrong. You’re not an expert or an authority on the matter... you’re more like anti vaxxers who “learn the truth” from garbage websites.

They are limited to 4 tails in the month of October as part of an agreement that the union made with the company.

They still have one 737-800 on order with nine currently in the fleet.

Re: Porter Airlines shifts restart of flights date to June 29

Oh boy, the negativity is strong here.

It’s not surprising... avCanada has a reputation for being a circle jerk of sadness and anger.

Overlord Trudeau will throw billions of dollars at the airlines and all will be well as soon as we have a vaccine and we get enough people inoculated/vaccinated.

Don’t cause too much of a stink....can the PTA be cancelled? Not can, but when? At least we got to test the language before too much time with it had passed. I think we all know its worth now and who benefits. I’m sorry that the PTA does not benefit you the way you want. For everyone else, we have ...

Re: Encore Recalls

Its quite clear in the PTA about bump rights. Jet driver is correct and you are not. Section 8.01 is pretty clear and its under "WestJet or Swoop layoff and recall" I understand Encore pilots are looking out for their own team, but if we keep allowing the company to do whatever it wants w...

Re: Encore Recalls

Let me boil down my point because I don’t think that I conveyed it clearly last time. In the PTA, it is explicitly stated that “in the event of a recall at WestJet or Swoop”, the WestJet/Swoop collective agreement will apply. It says a very similar thing regarding Encore. When a pilot is laid off fr...

Re: Encore Recalls

I’m not sure why the mainline guys feel screwed. The agreement is quite simple. There is a pilot transfer agreement that states that an Encore pilot can move up into mainline and that a mainline pilot can bump down into Encore if they are laid off at mainline. At this point, we’re not being governe...

Re: New Hires

From what I've heard, Porter put in some recall language to their Flight Ops Admin Guide (essentially some Terms and Conditions) associated with the shutdown and restart of the airline in the late spring/early summer of 2020. Essentially, no new pilots can be hired until all pilots currently on the...

Re: Guelph airpark (flight school?)

The flight school is back in action, seems kinda sketchy from what I can tell. I inquired with the owner about renting, and was told that I couldn't rent unless he got a copy of my PSTAR exam. Given that I already have my PPL, that seems pretty odd. Obviously I don't have a copy of my PSTAR on hand...

Okay children, let’s get back on track. I’m not sure if it is as obvious to you as it is to me, but the laying off of the 3000 people was inevitable with the Onyx buyout. COVID 19 was only the perfectly timed excuse. Respectfully disagree. Pre-COVID the focus on On Time Performance and the expansio...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

WestJet will not be laying off any more active pilots. It is not their intention to lay any furloughed pilots off as long as CEWS continues. Pilots who have been furloughed were given the option between CEWS and lay off. Pilots who chose CEWS can expect to continue to receive CEWS as long as the pro...
