Re: Porter vs AC

Are you implying Porter did not receive a 'bailout' from the government? Is a loan considered a bailout? Government bought $500 million dollars worth of AC shares. That sounds bailout to me. Actually, yes. A loan is indeed considered a bailout. Bailouts, or who has "hurt feelings" because of them, ...

Re: Will Encore close doors - pilots demanding too much?

YES. We are small potatoes in the "bigger picture". Think of pilots this way. Company Flight Operations is an "infantry division" fighting a battle for a "side" or their company. The managers are the senior officers, detached from the battle itself, sequestered in down in the bunker, away from the a...

Re: Will Encore close doors - pilots demanding too much?

There's this weird false concept that pilot wages have a significant impact on overall operational costs. False. The actual operational expense rarely exceeds 5-8% of the total operational package. Fuel fluctuates wildly and can cost up to 50% of the total operating budget. Fluctuating fuel doesn't ...

Re: Agreement in principle reached.

From this preliminary data, this AIP has ACPA stink all over it. My bet is a former "infamous" MEC Chair is employed by your management team. He was a former MEC Chair over at your Mainline's competition, is now retired, and became a "consultant for pilot WACON oppression". He is a master of "movin...

Re: Agreement in principle reached.

Wow. Just wow.

Pretty astounding to think that ALPA was at the table. Those guys need to give their heads a shake.

What a disappointment. The aviation industry in this country is really, really sick.

Good luck.

Re: Updated salary tables 2024

"I think what's clear is that our senior pilots are doing alright." Did I misquote? Sorry folks, I missed my sensitivity training. I'll crack out my Kleenex box. Just calling a spade a spade. When someone says ..."it's clear that..." usually means they are making a point. I am not in agreement with...

Re: Updated salary tables 2024

Just wanted to throw in some pilot pay scales from around the world. I think what's clear is that our senior pilots are doing alright. It's the junior FO's who really need a boost to come even close to our international peers. Australia is a similar geography with a small population spread out over...

Re: Agreement in principle reached.

Hoping for the best for you Encore guys and gals. I'm always a little skeptical about an offer being reached this far off the strike deadline. It appears at first glace that something rather large has been left on the table. Or perhaps the tide has finally turned and Canadian Management teams have f...

Re: Updated salary tables 2024

Those wages make me physically ill. Not one is "outstanding". The are all "meh". Remember how hard you worked to get here, and how "fragile" your career choice is. Simply forgetting eye protection when changing your brakes will end it forever in an instant. When you factor in the fact that inflatio...

Re: Updated salary tables 2024

This needs a complete update. Porter Captain's start at 190/hr or 171,000 min guarantee of 75 hours on the E2 - just below ACs and Westjet's current 737 rates. 5th year I believe, they blow through the 12 year pay of the 737. Hopefully AC ALPA can make some serious salary headway and give everyone ...

Re: Do the Executives send former ACPA Reps thank you cards

Tony was aware of many things. He was probably the most intelligent individual to ever represent us. You're funny. You're not making it a challenge to figure out who you are. If you weren't on Tony's side, you were on the other. If you aren't 100% certain about the guy, because you aren't, you shou...

Re: Do the Executives send former ACPA Reps thank you cards

TL, a former NMEC member and advocate of unity and big supporter of the Constitution was literally "lynched" by the ruling ACPA Mob. He was sickened by the pure corruption and collusion rife at ACPA and was hell bent on revealing it. He paid a very heavy personal price. A conspiracy theorist. Nothi...

Re: You will be handed your STRIKE FUND shortly.

The ALPA strike pay only starts paying out AFTER two weeks on the strike line. I don't foresee us getting that far. The objective is "not to strike at all". However, prepare for the worst and hope for the best. The games being played by management should be a clear indicator that they will "take us...

Re: You will be handed your STRIKE FUND shortly.

The avalanche of BS from the Company is just beginning. They are already bemoaning the rising cost of labour and blame it for reduced forward looking profitability. Better let Delta know! The real deal is that there is a ton of waste on middle-management, and it's a real problem. Too many managers t...

Re: So over at TransAt.......PAY ATTENTION!

What’s the latest news on the TA FAs? I heard they are going for another vote and this time they’ll be giving up their right to strike? Anyone with inside information? Why would they give up a -right- enshrined in the Labor Code? Not sure a "right" can legally be waived by anyone. That seems very b...

You will be handed your STRIKE FUND shortly.

Don't blow it! The timing is perfectly "on cue". They will be handing out "profit sharing" cheques on the April 17th pay (likely). It should amount to two to three weeks pay minimum, after it gets "mauled" by Justin Trudeau. Since this is "surprise" money in the midst of negotiating, my advice is to...
