I feel for the crew involved. I hope ALPA is providing whatever support they can.

Re: FAA CPL to TC CPL
Hi Guys, Thank you for the creation of this forum. Very helpful! Just a quick Q - I will be converting my HK ATPL to a FAA CTP/ATP with A320 Rating very soon. Overall aim is to obtain the TC ATPL, and the bilateral agreement makes it a much easier conversion than converting my HK ATPL directly to T...

I answered yes to this question and had an opportunity to explain myself on the AC interview. I was still offered the job, though I ended up not taking it.

Re: U.S. sponsorship available
Crappy pay. High attrition rate at Atlas but maybe interesting to someone. https://geckoaviation.com/atlas-air-current-recruitment-information/?fbclid=IwAR1kYVhKAG7BOwBkxbx9y6oE-QtRo4grMgHaNDiE2X2ohnrhrnHg8cJlcx8 If you look at the link below, it clearly states Atlas is only sponsoring E3 visas. Th...

Re: 2 Micheal’s freed finally! Anyone know their flight number?
From this Twitter thread it appears the two Michaels travelled on an American chartered Gulfstream N888HE to Elmendorf AFB in Alaska where they were picked up my an RCAF Challenger.

Re: Looking for assistance finding accom for layover in HKG
What do you consider cheap and what kind of standard are you looking for? I live in this city and cheap will mean a sacrifice in quality and/convenience or both. You could try the ibis in Sheung Wan or North Point for hotel accommodations. If you don’t mind remote islands you can check out Cheung Ch...

Re: Logging cruise relief time outside of Canada
90k in HK is no better than 37k in Canada. Go ahead and try it... Ok.. here's a comparison based on minimum pay (minimum guarantee, no per diems, etc). Jazz First Officer Pay: Hourly rate (based on 2% pay increase): $39.74/hr Minimum monthly guarantee: 77.5 hrs --> pulled from airline pilot central...

Re: Fully ready
It's an LHR thing. To push there you don't call for push and start you call fully ready when your before start checks are complete and your groundcrew is in position. Eventually they let you push and they don't want you blocking the lane and taxi ways for very long. It’s not just a British thing. I...

Re: New Cathay Pacific Deal
The pay has not improved. Your time as SO will likely be longer now that they’re crewing long haul flights with two SOs. HKPA is still $10000 or so, which will not even get you a village house in Tung Chung. The deal is okay if you’re a young pilot with 250hours, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyon...

Re: Citizenship Requirements for Air Canada crew
I can shed some light on this. AC will only hire Canadian citizens for flight attendant positions. To my knowledge this policy has not extended into flight ops. I became an AC FA in 2005, which was the last year that AC hired permanent residents for the flight attendant position. The problem was wit...

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool
I've also heard they ask inside the company if anyone knows about you so basically anyone can throw a wrench in your application if they want. As I'm sure you know it's a very social place. You gotta be friends with everyone. Nope. Completely untrue. It has actually been known to happen. I wouldn't...

Re: Two union drives
Soooo what happens to the hundreds of Encore pilots if Westjet does decide to unionize? Heard from friends there that it wouldn't be a good outcome for them!? Worst case scenario our newest flow through will lose 47 numbers. Best case scenario we keep the one list post certification. I feel like it...
