Re: Air Canada Loss of 132 million in the years strongest Q
I'll try not to post with my rose coloured glasses on BUT if we don't have access to capital markets than the whole leagcy airline industry in North America is doomed. We have one of the better business models in NA with a fuel efficient, aggressive costing structure (fares). If you were looking at ...

Re: Passenger comfort??????????????????????
Would like to share a experience I had on a AC flight from Santiago-Toronto about a week ago and see if any of you agree the crew handled the situation in a unprofessional and rude manner. 1. The lead Flight attendant started the flight off by making a announcement " lady's and gentlemen I regret t...

CHT (Canadian Humanitarian Trust)
Has anyone here been approached and/or sucked into this program. I know they are active at AC (where I am). The final results of this program 2-3 years later is not particularily favourable. Comments and opinions aside; I'm interested in networking with those affected. If you stayed away buy yoursel...

Re: AC888
I was on board the plane and it was incredibly traumatic. The power went off in the cabin suddenly and you felt the plane slow down quickly. The captain then came on in a very jittery voice and said we had a power problem and were returning to Gander - he said we would be there in 15 minutes which ...

Re: Air Canada cuts 2000 jobs
I think it's all bull. Too conveinent with the contracts up in 09. I just did a flight from LGA to YYZ in an A319 at 16,000ft. So much for Fuel costs are killing us. Wx/winds we're not a factor for keeping us low. Go figure! AC has an extremly intricate and all encompassing fuel conservation strate...

Re: Air Canada cuts 2000 jobs
dont work for WJ...(shareholder) great company...they(WJ) even put up with an ass like me!...and make me money...keep up the good work Now you're a Westjet shareholder who flies AC enough to comment on their customer service. Either you're extremely confused and don't support you're 'owned' airline...

Re: Air Canada cuts 2000 jobs
everybody seems to be missing the point!!!????!!! for any business to be competative....they must offer a certain level of customer service. Anyone who travels regularily will, I'm sure agree, that that West Jet kicks AC butt when it comes to taking care of their customers. . Do us all a favour and...

Re: Air Canada cuts 2000 jobs
On another note Westjet seems to be still growing, and making smart business choices, it doesn't seem like rocket science to me. / AC did hedge fuel - so you can't say they didn't see it coming. But hedges expire and must be renegotiated. You can't compare Westjet's business model to AC - not an ap...

Thanks for the good responses guys. I had no idea with enough senority you could be home everynight on domestic stuff. So for the people who commute say living in Ottawa they could expect to be in a hotel for 10 to 14 days a month from what you guys are saying? That's another good option. Don't dis...

Once you get enough senority can you bid for pairings where you end up overnighting back at home base? Thanks Gee, if you end up back at your home base are you still overnighting - or just going home. Maybe heading off to see the mistress...;-) To answer you question....seniority is everything. On ...

I delayed a class date at the first company I worked with - not really tnhinking about the senority implications. Well wouldn't you know when I did the math later those who got in before me we're just senior enough to knock off my best vacation picks and some weekends off. It might not make a big di...

How can a 777 captain go from 37K for the first year to $202K the second year.. If thats real thats the worst pay scale ive ever seen Yes but it's obviously not reality. Look at any other airline in North America with widebodies - they all have flat 1 to 2 year rates for all seats and equip. I woul...

First off one thing you need to do is call crew sched and get yourself listed. If you show up and say I'd like to jumpseat you might as well get something to eat cause you're going to watch that plane push back without you on it. Call crew sched When you get to the airport use the PNR number given a...

Fair enough. You're better off happy at your job then taking something just for that sake. If you only had to turn down a date and not the job entirely then the only thing loss is some seniority. I guess I did the same thing at Westjet - let one class slip by while waiting for AC. Got friends at CAL...
