Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

Recall rights are 120 months For a layoff yes, not sure what that has to do with a discussion about LOAs. Ummm, Blue42, you're the only one here talking about LOA. The Thread title is "Layoff Mitigation Agreement" and the news article was about AC laying off it's employees and taking them off of CE...

Re: Will Westjet survive?

.Costs are king folks. Airlines that relied on high yield business travel are going to have far more difficulty getting back to where they were than those whose core business was the back of the bus. 8) Certainly not disagreeing with you there. Cost is King, especially in the environment we now fin...

Re: Will Westjet survive?

Yes they will, their fleet is largely paid for....... We really have no idea how leveraged WJ might be after the Onex purchase. A company notorious for highly leveraged purchases. For all we know every aircraft was sold and leased back to pay for the purchase. We actually do have an idea of how lev...

Re: Employee ZED Travel

I think VnavLnav is screwing with us lol. Although we all know the airlines have been basically hiring next to no experience up until the Wuhan Virus decimated us, there is no way someone at AC thinks that WJ is currently hiring, or any airline for that matter. Old Lnav there just got the axe along ...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

AC just waited until the Markets closed before the Long Weekend, and then announced layoffs of between 19,000 to 23,500 out of 38,000 employees. Once that happens, we all know it takes years, not months to get everyone retrained and up to speed. Means that what we have been hearing from our own CEO ...

Re: Employee ZED Travel

I'll try and post a legitimate reply to your question instead of just a smart ass moment. The MyIdTravel site is run by Lufthansa, so it lists all the carriers that are registered with them. Just because it is in the drop down list it doesn't mean we have an agreement with the Carrier. Pick a random...

Stand-By Travel while Furloughed

Hey Everyone. I was under the impression from earlier communications that we kept our Travel Benefits for as long as we were furloughed? The communication I just received says that our travel benefits are only good for 6 months now? Is this correct, and if so, is Alpa going to try and deal with this...

Daniel Cooper wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 4:16 pm Why are they laying off 450 on May 1 if CEWS is until June 6th (with talk about it being extended to September 30th)? Seems like a crummy thing to do.
If you are laid off you collect CEWS, WJ announced that a couple weeks ago. It was in all the papers.

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

jjj: I admit I am not pro-alpa. and no, my butt is not hurting. This was never about Pro or Against Alpa, It was about saving jobs. I am very happy that a lot of jobs losses were mitigated and that a lot of my friends and colleagues will be able to pay their mortgages. That's all this was ever about...

Re: A "NEW" One List?

Yes, to me it sounds like someone needed to come to their senses. Regardless, the NC whether they were in control of their senses or not, had an obligation to communicate the final offer of WJ Mgmt to the pilot group. I don't mean spill the confidential financial data and violate the NDA, I mean giv...

Re: A "NEW" One List?

Nobody saw the results of the one and only survey. And in my opinion the survey should have had more options and/or a comment section. I don't think anybody really thought there would be 1700 actual layoffs which is exactly what happened. I don't think anyone thought "hold the line" or whatever juve...

Re: A "NEW" One List?

ALPA... Why is anybody shocked? They did what they always do. Protect the upper seniority pilots and sell out the junior ones. This is just a very extreme example. 1700 extreme which in my opinion is probably at least 600 more than it should have been considering the range initially presented was 55...
