Re: How old is to old ?

I feel like the answer to this question changes depending on the demographics of the day If you were hired in the late 90's when AC had 2000 pilots and and was ramping up to start really pushing into Asia then you could get away with being 40 or 45 and you would have still rocketed up the list to WB...

Has covid changed your plan?

Just curious if all of the instability over the past 2 years has changed anyone's plans to move from Jazz to mainline?

Even when hiring and flow does get going again is anyone a little bit spooked to give up their number and go to the bottom of a very large seniority list?

Re: Regionals hiring this Spring rumours

There were originally 675 pilots that were laid off at Jazz. So 10% would be roughly 67 pilots. I'd be surprised if that many of them hung up the hat because of a lay off that was less than 2 years. However that is entirely a guess

Re: Airlines deliver poor service to Kelowna residents: 40 flights cancelled

The airspace around fires is closed so that the tankers can operate unrestricted in the vicinity of the fire....to put out the fire.

It has nothing to do with aircraft not being capable of operating in smoke

Re: Do you get IATRA sticker?

No you will not.

You just have to keep a copy of your results printout.

Once you are typed on an aircraft TC will send you a new sticker for your book. Once you have a type rating in your book your IATRA does not expire anymore.

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

The union stated that recalls would a constant and continual process and that it would be difficult to keep the membership up to date because it is constantly changing. Basically any list they publish would be immediately out of date. Recall notices have been going out every month since April

Re: Fall Equipment Bid

The sky regional folks brought a bunch of flying with them. plus almost 100 senior captains took the early retirement package. plus domestic flying has increased dramatically as the travel restrictions have started to ease (especially out west. All those factors and a number of contractual requireme...

Re: Fall Equipment Bid

A number of people that were just recalled have already been re instated to the left seat less than a month after returning to work so hopefully that's a sign of more upgrades in the future

Re: Pilots in waiting NWAL Post

Having the IATRA written was not a requirement for hire at NWAL until sometime around 2017, But there was an issue with someone being close to PPC and then failing the IATRA, which messed up scheduling. I think the thought is that having an IATRA that will probably expire at least proves that you ha...

Re: Equipment bid

Unfortunately, no recalls in 2021 would not surprise me.

Especially considering the willingness of some active members to "Help out" and fly 100+ credit months.

I'm sure the company can count on these fine folks to keep the CAE bill under control for at least another year...

How many retirements are expected for 2021?

Anyone know how many retirements the company is expecting in 2021?

I'm not at all familiar with the process. Obviously they know who will be 65 this year. But do they survey people in the 60-64 age range as well? if so are these numbers public?

Thanks

New normal for those still left

Just curious as to what things actually look and feel like day to day for those pilots who are still active? How many days per month and legs per day is your new normal? Also interested in hearing from commuters about how much more difficult all around reduced frequency has made it for you to get to...
