Re: Civil Aviation Medicine number not getting through
Just to update here in case others are having the same issue. The phone line simply doesn't work, I'm not even sure if anyone is checking the voicemail. But it took them about a week to reply to my email (the second more concise email, first one went un-replied). Once I got hold of the right person,...

Re: Civil Aviation Medicine number not getting through
I had to deal with TC medical aviation in Ottawa last spring and i let me tell you : this was the worst gong show i ever seen in my life. 1st, you cannot call them. You must leave a voice mail and somebody might call you back one week later !!! and don't miss the phone call.. otherwize you are back...

Re: Civil Aviation Medicine number not getting through
Agree with Jockey.
How difficult would it be to have a waiting line or call-back service?
Think Telehealth Ontario or the CRA. I'm sure they are both understaffed and overused during the pandemic, but after a while you can still get ahold of them.

Civil Aviation Medicine number not getting through
Hi, Has anyone called Civil Aviation Medicine Toronto at 416 952 0562 recently? I received an email from Transport Canada to contact this number regarding my medical. I tried calling at various times of the day yesterday and today and it seems that it's not getting through at all. Not even a waiting...

Re: Flight centre behavior
Thank you all for the answers. While not particularly nefarious, it seems that this approach does raise some eyebrows. Together with a few other red flags I observed, it does make me rethink this centre for my training. Rookiepilot I won't name the school as it's not necessarily that they don't offe...

Flight centre behavior
Hey Folks, Just wanted to run this trough with some of you who have more experience with flight schools. I got in touch with a small flight centre a few weeks ago and asked for an intro flight with the instructor they recommend. Was told that senior instructors do not do intro flights, and talked me...

Re: What's in the briefings?
I was always under the impression that The prep ground instruction and a preflight briefing were two distinct things. What bpf described was what I thought a preflight briefing was. It takes about 15 minutes pre flight, and another 20:post flight, each lesson to go over the flight and get prepared ...

Re: What's in the briefings?
The preflight briefing is like what you would do in a 2 crew operation before an IFR departure. You want to make sure both of you understand what is going to happen and how you are going to execute the procedures necessary to complete the flight. There is no learning of new information. The Prepara...

Re: What's in the briefings?
Thanks, that's a good estimate indeed. And, just to understand, this is all apart from the hours spent on ground school?

Re: What's in the briefings?
That's a good comparison. But then how many hours of briefing should I budget for realistically? 10 sounds too little.
And yes, I will be asking this the flight schools as well, but it helps to hear other people's experience with it.

Re: What's in the briefings?
Thanks. I would have expected it to be the other way around, less to talk about at the beginning, info getting more complex as you advance.
But sure, it makes sense this way as well.

What's in the briefings?
Hello, Just new here and looking into getting a PPL license. I'm noticing in all the cost schedules that 10 hours of briefings are included. What's in those briefings? Is it the time spent on the ground talking about the flight? Then is 10 hours enough? I imagine you might chat quite a bit before an...
