Re: Assessment Dates

I got an e-mail back from recruiting that said there are no planned assessment dates for now but there should be something within 3-4 months.

Re: Assessment Dates

No one has any info? Is there still a demand for controllers or has that ship sailed? My spouse is really interested in pursuing a career with Nav Canada and she did the online assessments earlier in the year. No contact yet though...

Assessment Dates

Does anyone know of upcoming assessment dates in YVR? I can't find any info on the Take Charge website.

YVR Jepp Plates

Does anyone know where I can get the Jepp plates for YVR online? They don't need to be current. Tried the search but it brings up lots of resources for american publications.

Thanks

Re: Join a recognized minority, get exemptions from the rules

The rule was brought in for safety. Don`t you think 20 feet of cloth wrapped around your head would give you some sort of protection while still following your religious beliefs?

Re: Rotation Accomodations

With the accommodations covered, how much do you guys usually end up spending on food? This obviously depends on how often you eat in a restaurant but just looking for a general idea.

Do any companies cover food too?

Rotation Accomodations

When guys work 2 weeks in 2 weeks out or some other rotation up North, does the company provide accommodations when your "in?" If so, what are they like? Crack shacks or decent crew houses?

Thanks

Recent Calls?

Just wondering if anyone has been called from Sunwing, Flair or Cargojet in the last bit. Or even any other company in Canada flying the big stuff.

Re: Jazz SOP question.

I have a question for the dash guys as well. What restrictions are they refering to when they say "standard company restrictions in the clearance." Is it the 11K within 10 DME that everyone else gets as well?

Re: Former Keystone Pilot Mark Tayfel Sentence

Will this change the after math of all accidents in Canada from here on in?

I always thought house arrest was for someone that wasn't a viloent criminal and needed a time out to think about what they have done. I don't see how this will help Mark or anyone else involved move on.

I was once told that if you get a type rating on a 2 crew aircraft once you write the exam, you have as long as you need to get the time. The exams just get "frozen" from my understanding.

Although a civilian aircraft is expected to follow the CARs at a military airport, the military has no obligation to report any violation of the CARs. Anyone that has done a lot of PARs has probably herd the phrase "do you feel comfortable below civil minimums?" from the PAR controller. That and whe...

They don't need to ban guns. They just need to make bullets 100 bucks a pop.

Lots of insurance companies with a "No Name Clause" will have a "Blanket Approval" associated with it. That means they don't care about your details as long as you have certain time. If you don't meet that blanket clearance, then they want your details and then it's case by case.

Thanks to everyone for their input. There is a particular captain at work that I have always looked at as the leader for all the line pilots. I sat down with him and we talked about the upgrade. He basically said that I have learned what there is to learn as an FO. Now its time to start a different ...

To me as a former Chief Pilot I would look at you as someone who knows how to make good choices. The CP is flipping this the other way. He says he knows i'll make the right decisions and that why he wants me in the left seat. He is also giving me the whole "your the next most qualified person so yo...

Turning down an upgrade

Just wondering if anyone out there has turned down an upgrade and how the bosses felt about it. I just got offered an upgrade to the left seat of a turbine i've only been flying for 2 months (about 160 hours) and I think I would benifit from being an FO for another month or two.

Any thoughts?

You ended up in that situation because...?

Just thinking about the "Do the trip or your fired" thing. I know that anytime i've ended up in a situation with a high pucker factor its been because of unforseable change or because I put myself there. Anytime you end in a harry situation you have technically put yourself there by going flying but...

Drifter....nobody said EVERY accident is caused by pilot error. Or, did ya miss that? Wasn't try to get at anything you said Doc. It's just that people keep saying that accident was pilot error even after the facts have come out and TSB pointed the finger at lycoming. I agree with you that most acc...

Mark is right. From a financial view, the west is getting better. The companies also have the right idea when it comes to maintenance. The problem is, they don't have the right maintenance personnel.

That might change now that Mark has bought them out.

When I think West Coast Aviation, I think 703. The only reason 703 operations on the west coast have changed is because of the shut down of Regency Express/Sonic Blue/International Express Air. Instead of 2 big competitors (Sonic and Nav Air), the work is spread amongst many operators; Carson Air, S...
