He owes some people a lot more than $20.

Re: Three Months till the MUSIC stops!...TOPS

Interesting to see the music stopping thread. http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=89518 Reminded me of this one from 2006. I think DOC was a couple of years early, but there was a slowdown in the economy in 2008 which involved the US housing market as NorthShore pointed out. I didn't...

Re: Turbo - prop/fan/jet ?

Its all BS, all of this "time" stuff. "Multi Time" - The only time flying an airplane with more than one engine makes a difference is when one of the engines quits. Multi time should be worthless unless you've had an engine failure. "EFIS Time" - You're just displaying the same stuff on a computer s...

Re: Are Hours overrated?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. An idiot goes out and gets a pilots' licence, he gets his private and 50 hours. He's a 50 hour idiot. The same guy gets his commercial, gets that first job, now he has 500 hours. He's a 500 hour idiot. He manages to keep working, now he has 5,000 hours. He...

Re: So...I'm minding my own business AGAIN enroute to JFK...

When I fly over a big city at night, I like to look down and think how many cars are being stolen or how many people are smoking crack right before my eyes.

Re: Pilots resign after Emirates A340-500 accident

AMM, Accepting responsibility does not have to be as severe as resigning, or worse, being "forced to resign" (fired). Pilot error has been the cause of incidents in the past and the outcome from the event is changing the system to ensure whatever happened doesn't happen again. In the majority of the...

Re: High Total Time overrated ?

I like this adage.

An idiot with 100 hours is a 100 hour idiot.

When the idiot gets 1,000 hours he'll be a 1,000 hour idiot.

If the idiot manages to get 10,000 hours, he'll be a 10,000 hour idiot.

Common sense and good judgment don't increase with total time.

Re: Air Canada liable for lost, damaged luggage

This is terrible. On two separate occasions I've had a zipper broken and a foot broken off of checked bags. I don't fly for an airline, so I have to load my passengers' bags myself. Somehow, in doing this loading, I've broken the zipper off of my own bag once and I've broken a foot off of someone el...

stimulus? How about support the canadian manufacturing community...... Specialized -8s or get viking to run new buffs with pwc123 engines. The stimulus might sell these all over the world. Nothing should be bought that isn't build in our country in that scale of costs. Agreed. You can pick up a new...

Re: Feds consider $3-billion search plane buy

$1.5 billion dollars to purchase 15 aircraft? That's one-hundred-million dollars ($100,000,000) each! For an airplane the equivalent of a Buffalo? Does that include all kinds of fancy SAR technology or something? Plus another hundred-million to service them for 20 years? That's $5-million per year. ...

Thanks for your thoughts Bede, We are in quite the pilot's market these days, aren't we. The trouble is, its all about being in the right place at the right time. Paying Off a Training Bond

I’m thinking of taking a job that has a 2 year training bond (prorated promissory note). Does anyone know the finer points about paying it off should I leave after the first year and the tax implications involved? If I want to pay it off after a year, is the money tax deductible or do I need to pay ...
