Re: RP Gigs
Not many 777/787 RP spots going to new hires going forward, read none. Too many mat leave returns coming back to work part time in the back seat. You can expect to join as a NB FO with a 30 month freeze before you will be allowed to bid down in position. A down bid to RP after that will penalize yo...

Re: Leaving jet job for Q400?
I would suggest not putting all your eggs in one basket by relying solely on AC. Have a backup plan in case they stop hiring or if you get PFO'd. Consider looking into some Middle Eastern carriers and their requirements. If you do decide to switch jobs, make sure it’s for your benefit—better working...

Re: How long until you hear back from AC?
No doubt they are scratching their heads and wondering where the 5000 and 6000 hour pilots with large airline command experience and jet time went. But I doubt they are doing a single thing about it other than yelling the board that they are hiring another McManager to analyse the trend. The word i...

Re: Lynx Hiring process
I saw their job ad not too long ago requiring a Canadian Passport which might be one of the reasons why they never gave any feedback. However, that ad was deleted right away and reposted saying that now they require a Canadian passport or Work permit. I believe by law they can not discriminate based...

Re: Jobless during the shortage!
I would suggest trying 703/704 or Medevacs in MB. Lots of operators there require pilots. Try going to the PCC website and searching for different operators there. Even if it's Navajo or Caravan it will improve your resume significantly. Try Vanguard/Fast, Perimeter, SkyNorth, Wings over kississing,...

Like, what are the travel benefits Porter has? Transat? Westjet? …IDTravel airlines include carrier...

What is this? I thought that today is April 3rd and all jokes are gone but apparently not. I can't believe it. There are so many ways to enter Canada and get immigration documents. Whoever is applying there should expect that these people won't keep their promise of paradise. http://www.avcanada.ca/...

If you have jet time expect to be called especially if you have E1 time.
If no jet time, try applying for Dash. Be mindful of fleet lock which is 24 month as of now. Might change in the future though.
Good luck!

Re: Canada Jetlines
Why would Qatar sign a codeshare with them? Nothing against Jetlines but it is a very small company with 2 tails. I don't think that there are so many passengers who would book flights to Doha. Qatar is a standalone name. Whoever travels to Doha or has connecting flights is aware of Qatar Airways. W...

Does Porter prefer candidates that live near Toronto or is commuting from Quebec a real possibility Commuting is possible. There is a commuting policy. Basically it has city pairs operated by the Q4. It needs to be revamped and will be eventually I’m sure. You get reciprocal jumpseat on other carri...

Not to generalize here but 90% of those hired in the last year are flight instructors with little to no 705 operational experience. As I previously stated if they are that bent out of shape they can bounce and work elsewhere. ..they have no 703 let alone 705 experience! The entitlement dripping and...

Re: Being hired as an international student
What helped me a lot was watching movies, reading news articles and if you don't have anybody to talk to, you can always talk to yourself. Imagine that you're presenting something to a group of people and talking to them. Catch your mistakes, correct them and go over again. You can pretend that you'...

Re: Cessna Caravan C208B initial training
Depends on what you need. If you just need PCC, you have to find a company in Canada and pay them to teach you. If you need a PPC(for single pilot IFR), I would go to Flight Safety Wichita cause you need 6 hours of sim. In any way, you have to find a company in Canada in order to get trained and get...

However TC would never go for it especially when AC is hiring Seneca grads with 250h. That's Jazz. Not AC. Oh I’m sorry. I should clarify some things. Jazz is hiring 250 hours guys and most of them will join AC in 3-4 years once they have ATPL and 2000 hours. However it’s not because Jazz wants to ...

Still more than starting pay for RJ FOs at Jazz... Yep. And that's only working 6 months of the year. Pay should be better but keep in mind that this salary is based on roughly 6 months of work per year. 8 week on, 8 weeks off. If you look at it this way medevac pilots also work 6 months per ...

I'm wondering if Instructor Rating is worth doing, as airlines plan to hire and a lot of instructors plan to move on this year/next year. Try Perimeter, Rise Air in SK, Tindi, Summit, Buffalo and there're couple more operators in NWT and Yukon. Most probably it's all ramp jobs. Pilot Weather From Solo to Airlines by Doug Morris
Hello,
Recently I found "Pilot Weather From Solo to Airlines" book by Doug Morris. Just curious if anybody bought it and does it worth the money? Is it something like RCAF WX Manual with some US weather abbreviations or they talk about weather more in depth?
Any feedback would be welcome.
