Immediate Jail time for pointing Laser at Air Tahiti ATR

Justice is swift here; Sentenced to Jail for One Year in less than a week after the incident: ONE YEAR CLOSED FOR HAVING “FUN” POINTING AN ATR WITH ITS LASER. The thirty-year-old pointed his laser at an Air Tahiti plane last Sunday. A rash act which could have caused bodily harm to the pilot present...

Re: Thunder Bay airport accident

The TSB report should be required reading for every pilot. I hesitated to post my observations after the crash, but they're appropriate now. I saw the first fly-by earlier in the day. He took off and as soon as airborne cranked it right over barely missing the tower. I remember thinking at the time...

Re: STDs and pilot medical

Get treated by a doc as soon as you can. Do not allow it to set in because then it will be a longer road to recovery. Treatment within 48 hours of symptoms is the best. If you wait you could be on a long road of treatment depending what it is. Discussing the issue with the treatment doc can be embar...

Re: blocking tail reg on flight aware

Years ago I had to contact the NBAA to do it.

Back then, you needed an accepted reason to have a registration blocked such as security. Sorry, I do not remember how long the process took but it was not just a phone call.

Re: Fast Air HondaJet Overrun

Lots of aircraft and people have met their end there. From G5's, Challengers and so on. The approach and missed approach are tricky and require planning. I had a friend who had to go missed there. He was way over his head. Got out okay but over temped both engines. Another time he experienced a very...

I thought you buying a seat. If Airlines started $/kg for passengers I guess we could all diet to same $. In the current scenario, if you want the most value for your hard earned money for that flat rated seat, go on a food binge a few days ahead and have a double Big Mac with a large Poutine just b...

Re: Crew Stranded in Punta Cana -- Had a Similar Experience?

I had heard this story a while ago but only became aware of the Captain's name this morning. He used to work for me as Captain. I would not at all be surprised if he was involved after what I have seen. This was back in the 90's. He was working out of our YTZ base as Captain. I had hired him with a ...

Yes, they do have balloon competitions that require a course, spot landings etc. I have an acquaintance who competes both in the USA and Europe. He made National Champion twice. He also flies Mitsubishi Mu-2s, a lot. Bede you may know who I mean, as well as anyone who has been typed on them, Pat C.,...

Re: Can we sue?

I think it would be more effective to get the US to change our domestic pilot market. The American 1500 hour rule (I do understand there are some exceptions) has had a massive impact on the American pilot wages. The Colgan Air 3407 crash lit the fire that eventually put their 1500 hour rule in plac...

Re: 300XC question

Gee; 300 NM is nothing really. After I got my private I decided, instead of building hours locally, I jumped into a rented Cherokee 140 at Voyageur Airways and flew south from North Bay to Marathon. That is, Marathon in the Florida Keys. I had 55 hours TT when I departed. On a stop in Titusville Fla...

Re: Do people still drive cross country to drop off resume's?

Well, it can help. You just never know what will happen. Years ago I had a "walk-in" doing just that in YQT. Nice chap and reasonable resume but I just didn't have anything open and wished him luck. He was off heading westbound... I then walked into my office and answered the phone. It was another p...

Re: When to include a cover letter

Yes; as mentioned above. Also mentioned above, be sure to personalize it. I have received quite a few resumes over the years and there have been a few that stand out. Some because they didn't change the name of the employer from one letter to another and the one then sent me the letter that was name...
