Re: CEO throwing Mechanics/Union under the bus
So the CEO, born in Germany, and the COO, born in the Netherlands claim the source of the problem is an international union based in the US.

Air Canada safety video Disney version
Am I the only one that has noticed this detail? We must assume that AC paid a decent chunk of $ to produce this video. Probably just as well we don’t know the true amount. In the first three seconds there is a glaring editing error. For reference the feature characters in the video are what appear t...

Re: Negotiations
Perhaps a cruel but timely indication of how the employer is so out of touch… Memo 2023-200 titled Pilot Wellness Committee (not going to post the memo on this forum) has a very appropriate spelling error, as if to underscore how they have no clue what is going on the “shop floor”. “Morale” is mis-s...

Re: Air Canada Interview Prep
This clown and so-called “captain kirk” (lower case intentional) needs to be continued to be called out for the charlatan that he appears to be. Many years ago over a beer a fellow rookie pilot wisely stated that when that magic day comes that we move up the ladder, our role was to “reach down and g...

Re: Party time on Sunwing!
For anyone condoning the actions of these boors… Would that be acceptable behaviour on a city bus, rapid transit, VIA train, taxi cab, Greyhound bus, etc. Maybe you would be ok operating a flight knowing your FA’s are facing an outnumbered situation with a bunch of entitled “influencers” ( that’s La...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen
The answer to this question is probably hidden somewhere within one of the barrage of recent LOU’s... WRT the recent recalls, including the many that happened today, are the 80 or early retirement/buyout taken into account? Or put another way, once the last of the group of 80 has left by end of Augu...

Re: Finding a pilot job
Is this so-called “Captain” Kirk the same charlatan that used to charge people a “ consulting fee” for the privilege of being subject to his vast experience in the world of aviation? Many years ago a friend who tragically passed way too young, over a beer had opined that our role as pilots is to rea...

Training
As I understand it, in early April Air Canada initiated a policy where flight crew were not to travel to CAE YYZ for recurrent training unless they were YYZ based. A few days later Jazz followed suit. Has that policy been rescinded or modified recently? In addition, anyone with qualification at eith...

Is this going to digress into a dick measuring contest? I'd rather show you pictures of my successful kids and happy chihuahuas than my T4 any day. I am happy with my Jazz situation pre MOS4 and I like now knowing what my final payday before retirement might look like. And that's a minimum without a...

Re: Which Canadian Airlines expect their Flight Deck Crew to also be Cabin Groomers?
Once upon a time not so long ago we had 40 minutes between flights at our hub. That allowed some time to help out at the back. Now maybe (if we are on time) it’s 20. Somewhere in that 20 I need to get a release, reload the printer when it fails, maybe chat with dispatch about the MEL item due to the...

Re: Drama Queen pax runs to CBC
So this morning I find the story to show it to someone, and I see it has been edited slightly to downplay the non-event somewhat. Interesting is that the story is originally posted September 3 and says "last updated" September 3 as well. Not true. It was updated at least a day or two later. Minor po...

"Thanks for your email. We published the story because a member of the public came forward and felt unsafe. Regardless of how common an occurrence is, we believed it was worthy of publication due to the man's perspective. I contacted the airport, TSB and WestJet, two of which are in the story. " Hoo...

Weather app issues
Using two different apps for weather. Aeroweather on iPhone and Skyvector on iPad. Last two days all US weather stations are working fine but all Canadian Stations not loading or updating on either app. First thought is to dump and re-install. Anyone else having problems with this ? Any ideas? Thx. ...

Re: Fighter simulator Anaheim CA
Well I tried it. For the modest fee of $99 US I was entertained for three hours. The simulator is not full motion, and the program is designed for the non flyer. Basically Microsoft Flight Simulator but on a screen about 6'x8' in front of you. You get to dogfight seven other participants, and on sec...

Re: Air Transat YOW
A couple of hours of drywall mudding in the rec room has gone by... So, how hard did the crew advocate for having the passengers put in a more comfortable setting? "You're next for fuelling, really, we promise" rings pretty thin after a certain number of minutes, not hours, under these conditions. I...

Re: Here we go again
Captains authority in this situation should override corporate issues, my humble opinion. Disclaimer: this is written from the comfort of my kitchen table with a coffee in hand and central air conditioning operable. My gut feeling is the employer said "no" due to dollars and cents. Easy for that ma...

Re: Important aviation event, all are invited!
If these clowns can't even do their homework well enough to correctly spell the name of the venue, how can I believe anything they say? Reminds me of the time my employer misspelled the name of the city in question in a flight ops memo. Everything else in that memo was hastily researched inaccurate ...
