Re: Are Encore pilots aware they are accepting 705 wages below PC-12 & King Air captain rates?

I don't think anyone is seriously saying northern medevac is better than Encore. ... By comparing Encore to northern goat show operators, people are being facetious in the comparison as a way to mock the new Encore pay. Maybe a 10% premium is appropriate to tolerate breaking rules for northern crap...

Re: The end of Flair?

If Flair is doing so well financially, why do they have a sale on for next winter? They're selling cut-rate tickets on bookings for a year from now, when this beach season hasn't even ended and no one is thinking about where they'll be going next March. That's just insanity unless they're so desper...

Re: The end of Flair?

Other than lower fees at Abbotsford, you would think most of the other costs would be similar. All the other airlines are also charging a fortune for bags and seat selection now. $150 for an extra legroom seat on both AC and WJ for transatlantic flights (used to be between $50 and $90 until this ye...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt

My favourite is when I’m messaging friends to congratulate them on getting on with AC and in their first message back they throw in the “so when you coming to AC?” as if I also wanna be not affording rent and living with my parents LOL Ignorant comment - AC provides a lot more financial reward comb...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt

Keep dreaming... ULCCs like Swoop, Flair ETC don't do this. They hurt the industry for the worker with the race to the bottom. Strange, flair fo's make more than AC for several years...... I just can't understand Canadian pilots sometimes. We should be cheering on more companies and competition. He...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt

I just can't understand Canadian pilots sometimes. We should be cheering on more companies and competition. Helps improve wages and ticket prices. Not snickering and hoping for their demise. Maybe it's insecurity so you can pat yourself on the back and validate your own career decisions. Keep dream...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt

So by that measure it would be fair game to post articles about Flair having aircraft repossessed and owing tens of millions of dollars in taxes in order to show a trend of financial mismanagement, no? I don't think ANYTING is clearcut, lots of companies fucked around and (didn't) find out. The Bay...

Re: Losing another tail?

I thought it was strange as well but it is true. I was approached to see if I was available to do a test flight on one of the 4 just a few weeks ago. I believe there may still be a couple sitting in Barrie. If you're comfy sharing how/what does a test flight pay? It was being staffed by a ferry com...

Re: Losing another tail?

You mean to tell me one of the most sought after aircraft has been sitting for a year in YYZ. Find that very hard to believe. Do you have any references for this? Those four previous aircraft would have been exported within short order. I thought it was strange as well but it is true. I was approac...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada

One thing i’ve heard from a seasoned EK pilot… A lot of the captains who finish their careers at 65 end up passing away between the ages of 67-70 and an alarming amount of them pass before 70. They don’t tell you that in the interview. I believe this is the case for pilots who make a career of long...

Re: Are we in a Business Model Transition?

Speaking of a lack of communication... Aviation Incident Report #18400: A Flair Airlines Ltd. Boeing 737 MAX 8 (C-FFBC) had failed the fire suppression test and had been flying for 2 days with baggage after this failed test. On September 4th, this fact was discovered by the Edmonton (YEG) Maintenan...

Re: Fastest way to get an ATPL from 0 hours? (Jazz Approach)

Also, isn’t the whole point of Jazz approach so that you don’t have to instruct/ go up North and suffer like the rest of the poor guys? If you’re going to instruct/ go North anyways, why would you spend 2x the money to get to the exact same place? Didn't realize flying planes was suffering. At the ...

I remember we had an aircraft to flights after a tailstrike. Best to do a more thorough than usual walkaround after a hard or unusual landing...... Boys and gals get ready. Good things are coming. In a recent board meeting it was unanimously decided that the management understands how pathetic the WAWCON are at AC and are willing to take it to the next level. They want AC to be competitive and want to invest in the pilots. Expect $130k year 1 ...

Re: 1 Day Pairings on E2?

Because a YOW turn or even YUL has ZERO time to actually talk about even simple jet things like descent planning or arrivals. The trainees are still on the ground in yyz when you’re trying to teach them how to slow a jet for their first time. Not to mention the countless other items required to che...

Re: 1 Day Pairings on E2?

Using YYT splits vs YVR turns is trying to make this a black and white issue. Its a funny coincidence that the pairings that are apparently best suited for training also happen to be the highest credit. Talk about negative training, how is 4 hrs in cruise a good training environment. Should be slam...
