Re: Being proficient
Thanks for the advice. I will book some flights instead. I've flown 3 hours since June. I'm thinking I have test anxiety and its causing me to freeze up and miss things. I figured if I just chair flew a lot more and did the reps it would go away and a sim would be a cheaper option. I already failed ...

Being proficient
Hello, I'm in a bit of a pickle and am interested in some insight to see if this is a good solution. I have about 350 hours and need to pass my Class 4 flight test but am financially not doing well at all... it's hard to stay current & proficient above a CPL standard if you can't fly everyday. I'm c...

Are they? I sure hope soTurkeyFarmYQX wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 6:51 am If you can afford an instructor rating, I'd suggest doing that. Class 4 jobs are plentiful right now and it's a good way to get your ATPL hours.

Re: How hard is it to get the first job after cpl
It's hard, I've been looking for almost a year, but I suspect not having Group 1 is hurting chances. I'm doing an instructor rating now and im happy to be doing it. Any decent job takes time, effort, experience, and luck. As long as you don't quit, who cares about the ones that didn't make it, they ...

Re: Steep turns
I fly a SP model with G1000 and I find when the arrow is on the first notch on the attitude indicator, I get a steep turn with minimal climb/descent. I know you should be looking outside, but add it in your scan, see what happens.

Re: What to do next
Well I'm going to knock out the INRAT and get started on Multi IFR. I'd like to teach but it's just not financially feasible for me at this point :( I'm not sure that's entirely true, entry positions seem scarce and is hard to differentiate yourself but I suppose majority of positions are never adve...

What to do next
Hello, I suppose this is an age old question, instruct or Multi IFR? Fresh CPL, 300 hours in Alberta. I find instructing to be an interesting proposition and like how it knocks out ATPL requirements easier (from what I read) but the Multi IFR is 100% necessary at some point and it's hard to spend an...

Re: Jobs under 250 hours
I have over 250 but im undecided if I want to try instructing or multi/multi IFR first. If I do multi first I probably won't do an instructor rating. It's hard to tell when you've never done it before.

Re: Jobs under 250 hours
Spring is coming, I would suggest a road trip to drop of resumes and shake hands with CPs. It worked for me a few years ago. I wasn't getting any interviews by emailing my resume or cold calling companies. People still doing that? Any suggestion of direction from lets say, Edmonton? Fresh CPL lacks...

Re: Jobs under 250 hours
I'm wondering if Instructor Rating is worth doing, as airlines plan to hire and a lot of instructors plan to move on this year/next year. Before anyone gives me flak, yes only instruct if you want to, be a good teacher, etc

Re: What are the unlucky doing?
I had a great b2b sales gig I lost end of summer due to the bug. Worked a labour job and a warehouse job after and was laid off weeks later back to back!! (-_-) been on EI for a few months now. I've never gone 2 weeks without work before, here I am at 3 months. I just got an associates degree in bus...

Re: Flight Instructor Rating
If one were to finish his CPL in the coming months, what rating would be the next best step? M.E & Multi-IFR or Instructor Rating? I went straight for my instructor's rating and did the Multi and Group 1 later. That way I was able to start working for an FTU, building hours and saving money towards...

Complete opposite experience for me. Passed PPL on 09/10, TC confirmed my application on 10/20, and got my blue book in the mail days before Halloween. This is in Alberta.
