Re: Aug 7, 2020 - Air India Express 737

Looks like a tailwind landing in heavy rain..... India's DGCA reported: "Air India Express AXB1344, B737 Dubai to Calicut, person on board 191, visibility 2000 meter, heavy rain, after landing Runway 10, continued running to end of runway and fall down in the valley and broke down in two pieces." Re: Travel starting to come back?

That's a win-win-win for everyone involved! Glad to hear things are starting up, hope it won't lead to a knee jerk reaction of closing everything down again when infection numbers start to rise. It's not exactly a win for the Sunwing pilots since we are still sitting on our tails. Technically we ar...

Re: Travel starting to come back?

Looks great, except these were Sunwing vacations operated on Air Canada aircraft, not Sunwing aircraft. The Sunwing Tour Group and Sunwing Vacations are still active, but it looks like they're using other carrier's to get their passengers down south while the airline remains grounded. https://www.s...

Re: Signing off an AD

The requirements for technical records are in 605.92. How you meet those requirements isn’t specified, and there are lots of ways to do it other than the traditional blue/red/yellow/green books. Quite obviously there’s no requirement for the covers to be any particular colour, or even to have cover...

Travel starting to come back?

At least somebody is starting to do something......even if it's not much right now. Lets just hope it builds slow and the rug doesn't come out from under us. https://www.travelweek.ca/news/first-sunwing-guests-arrive-in-cancun-and-montego-bay/ Sunwing has welcomed back its first passengers since the...

First of all they were at the airstrip.....second I find it very difficult to believe someone sustained fatal injuries from simply nosing over.

Re: Paint removal

$30,000 ??? If he gave you that number it's because he doesn't want to do it. Ask an actual paint shop. They will do it for a few thousand. A complete strip and paint is like $12,000 for a 150 so the strip alone might set you back $5000. You can do it yourself as others have done, but there are pitf...

Fatal crash at Stave Lake airstrip BC

Last night at 6 pm a Cessna 170 with 2 on board crashed at the old Stave Lake airstrip in BC - killing one of the occupants. Stave lake is an old strip that is technically closed and just a stones throw from the lower mainland airports, but you can still get in and out of there. It's not maintained ...

Re: Nolinor Aviation Starts New Airline

For my clarity then, and given the follow up reading I have done. Most documentation still references ADS B as being ground based surveillance. All ADS-B requires a ground station so to speak....The difference is whether your pulling that info from the transponder itself (radar) or from the satelli...

Re: Nolinor Aviation Starts New Airline

Space based ADS-B has been used for flight tracking since 2017 A significant step forward for ADS-B is the reception by artificial satellites of the ADS-B signal. It was tested for the first time in 2013 on ESA's PROBA-V[65] and it is being deployed by companies like Spire Global using low-cost nano...

Not much - just that the last radar return was at 60 meters - eastbound over the river

Re: Nolinor Aviation Starts New Airline

I hope this isn't a secret partnership with Sunwing to provide lift.
Lift for what? Sunwing has 14 airplanes sitting (practically) idle.

They do have one thing going for them though.....
The paint job is much better than Flair!

Possibly getting rid of things like fingerprints and DNA.
Fair enough....but why not just keep using them? Fly in, dump the dope, fly out and get another load.

Fly them once and torch them??
