Hmmm... Let's see... how do I put this without making it sound arrogant (I don't really want to be arrogant anyway, not my thing). I have worked for a couple airlines around the world. I am an FO, and both airlines I have worked for do or have done the DEC thing. Yes, it does piss some people off, a...

Well Old Fella, you did hit the nail on the head with that one, but I guess if all old fellas were as honest with themselves as you are, some cockpits would be nicer to be in :)

See, that's the thing about the seniority system. Don't take me wrong, I think AirCanada's system is one of the best out there. I mean, if you're a senior guy with AC, it absolutely rules! I would rather be a senior guy in AC than a senior guy in most airlines out there. Let's imagine the imaginary ...

I know how the seniority system works. It is a good alternative, but sometimes, I think it is more expensive for the company to have a seniority system, and trust me, most airlines in the world (including the one I currently work for) require their captains to pass such training/course/exams/psychol...

:) good one Traf, I think you and dockjob summed up the reality of it all. I mean, it sucks for the guys that have been in a company for 4-5 year to miss their command because they hired people off the street, but also, if I've only been on a company 2 years and a guy that has much more experience t...

Just out of the blue, what if you have an A340 captain fed up with being an expat, 10000 hours total, 4000 hours as captain on heavy jets (I'm talking 737 and bigger) and wants to come into AirCanada, passes the interviews and all? I mean, I understand the "AC system" is not exactly the same, but th...

Don't renew it, seriously, you're going to have to go through a type rating, correct? That would renew your IFR. Just be honest during the interview and let them know that if it is required from you, you will renew it, but I'm almost positive you won't need to, personally, it seems pointless to me. ...

Now, here is where my question comes in... what is level 4? Does that mean that that person will have an operational understanding of english in aviation or that he can carry a conversation in english as well? I know ATC controllers here in south america that can control in english, but if you tell ...

Sorry if I ask out of ignorance... I have heard a few times that the "level 6" that all of us have to reach is high enough that the average native english speaking adult would not pass the test. I guess we will have to take some university english courses if this is true. To look at the positive sid...

hmmmmmmm..... OK... to the glider guy.... I got my glider license about 10 years ago.... nobody did anything to my ass, that's just plain weird... I got the soaked part and all that... I'd look into who started that tradition in your club or see if there's one of those rainbow flags flying around so...

I don't think buying a job is good at all. Buying training maybe... but buying a job sounds too much like taking a job from someone that needs it so that you can get ahead of them simply because you have the cash available.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what was trying to be said.

I'd turn downwind in gusty winds at night or day in IMC if the SID says I should... I've done that many times... you just have to... specially when the MSA is above 15000 feet and the airport elevation above 8000 feet... but that's because we fly into weird places :D I also do agree that flying has ...

Ok, correct me if I am wrong... but it all depends on your indicated airspeed with the turn after take-off... if your airspeed remains the same, and so does the attitude, in a constant bank turn, then the direction change of the aircraft won't matter because your rate of climb will be maintained... ...

Hey Titan, go abroad! :) you'll get into a 320, but not as captain, just FO... but then again, you'd be lowering your standards by not going DE 320 captain :D

Last time I checked, 4 FA would be fine for 199 passengers, isn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the minimum is 1 per 50? I also do know that each country can have their own regulations, but if for example, there's a conflict in regulations, between an aircraft registered in country X flying over ...

I believe he was talking about companies like Singapore, Emirates, Qatar, etc... Considering how difficult it is to get into the majors in Canada, maybe he wasn't really talking about making a career out of it, maybe he was referring to it as a good solid stepping stone. My opinion only here.

I´ll add to that by asking, is it seasonal? What kind of schedule are you looking at? If you´re type rated on the 320, what kind of prospects do you have at Skyservice?
