Re: Anderson Air
If they actually have 3 pilots per airplane, there should be a schedule that avoids the old ways of 'retro' days off. And stop trying to compare how Air Canada does it. It's apples and oranges. I don’t think 3 pilots is enough for that. My understanding is that the 3rd pilot will be a pilot in the ...

Re: Anderson Air
Schedule is 24/7 reserve, if you don’t get called it’s a day off. I dont believe that's even legal these days. You cant call it a 'day off' retroactively, it's only a day off if you know in advance. Well that’s what Air Canada does. If you don’t get called on reserve that’s considered a day off and...

Re: Anderson Air
Did you ever get any info on Anderson Air? Yeah it seems really good. Compensation depends on experience, what you can negotiate, and what type of plane you’re going on. First year FO will probably be around 100K. Schedule is 24/7 reserve, if you don’t get called it’s a day off. On average they wor...

Re: How many hours should I fly?
It wasn’t AC, it was another flaky HR department lol. It was definitely very flaky because I’ve sent alot of emails to them during the recruiting process that never got answered. To answer the other guys question, it was the vibe and connection that I experienced with the pilot conducting the interv...

Re: Has anyone been to the Careers in Aviation Expo?
I saw it’s going on next month in Richmond BC, does it make sense to go to this expo as someone trying to get into the industry or is it more for people trying to climb the totem pole? https://events.annexbusinessmedia.com/event/careers-in-aviation-expo-richmond/ If you’re just getting into the ind...

Re: How many hours should I fly?
I recently got PFO’d from a 705, the interview went really well, then they asked for my documents and logbook. I didn’t hear from them for 2 weeks then they told me it was a no. I’m just trying to examine why this happened and I’m looking at all the possible options. I bid for reserve at my current...

Re: Westjet Buys 67 Boeing Planes
I think it’ll be new hiring because all the news articles are referring to this as growth rather than replacements. The big question for me is when will the hiring start?

Re: TakeFlight Group Salary/Schedule/other info?
Looking at the more recent takeflight group pilot job postings... Anyone have the details on the scheduling, pay, quality of life across the different aircraft? Infuriating companies do not include this sort of basic info in their job postings... 24/7 reserve. Call out is 24 hours. So a day off is ...

Thanks for the replies!
When you do get a block what would that look like?
Average number of days off?
Is it reasonable to expect that if I ask for it I could only do single days or 2 days?

Re: Misc WJ questions
Would it be reasonable for a junior reserve holder to get weekends off? How many days per month do you have off when on reserve? Just the 12 I’m guessing? Would it be possible for somebody who is senior on reserve to get a short block of days? For example; at some airlines you only need to do 2 day...

Re: Misc WJ questions
You bid monthly for your days off and they are awarded by seniority. You often get what you ask for as long as it’s not unreasonable. Reserve guys are usually scheduled 16 to 18 days per month Long call is awarded to the 25% most senior pilots holding reserve. You get assigned more on long call tha...

Misc WJ questions
Good Day fellow Aviators,
I have a couple questions about Westjet as im just toying with my career options:
1. How often do you get called on reserve on average?
2. What would a full pension look like?
3. Current YYC upgrade times 737 and 787.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
