Shouldn’t be a penny less than 750/day for an otter pilot. They’re not exactly growing on trees. I feel like that 300/day is not accurate on the posting

Re: Cargojet ad with salary
Really thought they would have to trick pilots into being a widebody skipper for less than 1/3 of what they should be paid. But nope, there it is is right in the ad. 141k for a 757/767 Captain. Unbelievable. I made that 2nd year FO with OT a large 705, pathetic. . I make almost as much on a VFR sin...

Re: Tax SeasonDeductibles for Pilots
Travel costs i.e. commuting to work cannot be deducted. Subscriptions? Seriously? If you're working a seasonal/remote job away from home i guess your fuel expense/ticket is a write off? I understand some folks do road trips across the country to get to their base? I think Pilottraining.ca is tuitio...

Re: QoL and Upgrade Process
Why not go to Westjet? They should be hiring again in fall 2025. YWG is the most junior base, so you would get it almost immediately, and it would be quick to get off reserve. Also will likely always remain the most junior base to upgrade in. Sure, upgrade will take longer, but do you really want t...

Re: Who Funds Medevac flights?
The problem with arguing for a user fee for a medevac is it fundamentally means everyone in Canada is not guaranteed the same level of care, at least not at the same cost. If I need an ambulance to the hospital where I live and it costs let’s say $200 on your model, that’s one thing. But if a guy in...

Re: Base Assignmen
I know they had specifically advertised for Q400 DEC positions for each base, I believe the plan for that was they would pool the candidates and have a class with only their desired base as positions available, in case that’s not clear, a new hire class of 10 YYZ DEC, then YUL, then…. Not sure of t...

Re: Pasco Bond
What's "brutal" about it? They've probably been burned multiple times by people coming in, doing the training and then skipping off to their next job without giving them a reasonable return on their investment. A 1 year commitment (say) after the company spends $30K on your training isnt too much t...

Understood. Weird the way they’ve got the ads up then but what do I knowStable_Approach wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 4:07 pm Bases are assigned second day. HR hates these ads because you are not applying to a specific base, you could be assigned any base that is available at the time of your class.

Folks, wondering if Jazz is still assigning bases on your second day or if it’s pre employment now? I see some ads with specific bases attached, but the ad seems to contradict that. Do you have a link to the ads with specific bases attached? The ones I've seen only state the four bases Jazz has rig...

Wondering if anyone knows whether or not pasco has a bond on the 1900 at the moment. Thx Used to be not long ago. I assume there still is. Don’t remember the terms. It seems to be the only way to get drivers to fill 703 seats to get a relatively easy career progression, unfortunately. Brutal. Won’t...

Private healthcare? Please don't. Best example are eye doctors and dentists. Ridiculously overpriced. This is the kind of post that pisses me off. Who the F are you to say is overpaid in the private sector? Do you know how long you have to go to school to be a doctor, or dentist, then spend your da...

Re: Interesting Single Otter Accident
It would have feathered itself as soon as he shut it down with condition. Whether you’d want to try and feather at full power, I’m not sure… but it would do it Not necessarily, if the prop stays in fine pitch, the wind milling of it would produce enough oil pressure to counteract the spring and cou...

Re: Interesting Single Otter Accident
I wonder if he was able to feather the prop. I can't see any reason why the prop would not feather. This has happened a few times on different variants of the PT6. Usually something awry in the FCU forces it to "think" more fuel is required. It would have feathered itself as soon as he shut it down...
