Re: 67% yes
People are inherently selfish. This contract catered to 67% of the pilot group. People didn’t vote yes because they were afraid. They voted yes because it best suited them. Happens all the time. Not necessarily. I benefit a ton from this TA going through. YOS gained back. Still voted no simply beca...

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian
I quite like Morningstar's system (copied Fedex). They get straight credits for flight time and then they add on non flying duty time (1:4) and layover time (1:6). Would make a huge difference on long layovers. For example, the 767 freighter would fly down to Lima. You get about 9 credits or so oper...

Re: Interview dress code
Good advice so far, just one thing I'd add. Have some kind of binding for your logbook if you've got a printout of a digital logbook. I just had it in printed off and in an accordion folder with some post its for important dates (new job, new type etc). The airbus CP who did my interview did not see...

Re: ACPA LOA?
@Lenamaude So just to make things perfectly clear, you think the company will come up with some other way to achieve the required training for their planned expansion, without negotiating? I was so worried that 50% + 1 were going to think like you on this vote. So glad to see an overwhelming majorit...

Re: P4C members terminated
The company knows full well that the demographic swing is here. For the P4C crowd to think they are scared, don't flatter yourself, they will deal with it, same with a representation change. This was not a shot across the bow at ACPA, this is a shot at Attitude and irresponsible behavior. We have n...

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
Did you want them to leave them open and some how contact trace all skiers for two weeks lol? Pretty much everything was shut down, a few times now to varying degrees (depending where you live). They basically measure the risk and trend of cases/severity against hospital capacities. As things trend ...

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
I think it's near war time measures. It's often hard to know if it's required/justified in the moment. The draft for the Vietnam war was extremely polarizing. Forty years later we've learned the hippies were right lol. Any one questioning the choice to invade Iraq was deemed unpatriotic. Things chan...

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
Why do people keep trying to enlighten the other side. Extremely different view of the world, different facts. The covid is fake/overblown crowd wouldn't flinch if cases and deaths went up 10x. The covid is real and scary crowd will still think those who choose not to get vaxxed are still douche bag...

Re: The Technological Future of the Profession
I think most of us who see the big picture will agree this is a DUMB topic, barely worth our time. The infrastructure costs and "selling it to the public" far exceeds the cost of continuing to have pilots pollute the flight deck. As companies like AC continue to drive WACON for pilots into the toil...

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
So I just asked around. Sister in law is at Georgetown hospital in emerg, good friend at St Jos in Hamilton and another at Guelph. All confirmed that they continue to be busy with covid patients. Having just one patient is a major pain in the ass because of the required isolation and extra procedure...

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
I think we're much better off to let it run it's course. With these numbers you would think eventually those holding out on vaccinations will cave as they realize that the probability of them dying or killing some one close to them is exponentially higher without the vaccine. I feel for those that s...

Re: Happy Treason Day!
I agree that it's better not to put down another country to make you feel better about your own. That being said unless I could guarantee that I'd respawn rich, there's about ten other countries I'd rather be born in over the US. Canada used to be #1 on that list in my younger days but I figure I've...

Re: Pilot Count
Thanks Throwaway. So it was more like 800 pilots not working before the surplus group got recalled... total now laid off/inactive/furloughed is 600. What was the difference between furloughed and surplus? Seems like the exact same thing, just a different name for the seniority level. T As one of th...
