Re: DEC Westjet Swoop
Everyone blames wj for starting swoop but fails to talk about why it’s there and how it plays a role to protect your job. Do I buy that reasoning from the upper management? Yeah I do because you don’t have to look very far to see jetlines flair and lynx. They don’t pay wj or ac rates or benefits. No...

Re: #EncoreFlowMoraleLow
Didn’t really answer the question. Does any other company other than swoop have that in Canada? Can’t think of anything. I think Jazz had a version of it a few years back but can’t remember

Who says I haven’t? For your own litmus test ask a few of your buds at Jazz if the reps book days like this? I did. You like telling me what to do so there’s some homework for you

Re: Competing Union
It doesn’t matter how many calls and emails you get. It’s still paid flight relief on Alpa days so it’s not like they are doing free work. You don’t take advantage of the position to get a schedule advantage on your peers who you represent and just for fun I looked at the VR captain rep who openly ...

Re: Competing Union
Here’s the thing. We pay a lot of dues to have these guys work for us. You don’t pee in the bathtub by putting Alpa days like LH before the 25th and all the way to New Years. under the guidance of CT who also put a week of days between Christmas and New Years before and after important dates that al...

Re: Competing Union
Just happy our grievance chair used his Alpa days off between Xmas and New Years to create a week of holidays. He must have passed the advice along to the new yyc captain grievance enforcement guy LH to build the Alpa days off before snd after Xmas

Re: Vax communication
Laughing at the communication put out by the mec just now. I’ve read AcPa, jazz, cupe, sunwing and I understand transat is going this way too as they were advised a few days ago. All reasonable mature responses. Ours is like a shootout in the Wild West. The show gets better. Now backtracking with a...

Re: Vax communication
Another great example if you wish would be the mec putting out a note on “don’t pick up overtime” yet the yyc lec capt rep lists available and picks up a 4 day ot. another divisive move imho Might I ask where you are getting your information on who lists "available" to pick up OT? Also, I was...

Re: The Campaign
This is one of the funnier posts I've read on here. Well done. A friend over at WS tells me that WS is now charging their own pilots the JS fees that others (from other carriers) have been charged instead of getting on for free like they used to do. Costs can run up to about $50 depending on the AI...

Well rightplacewrongtime will have his theory tested lol with the newly elected mec DK, SW and BL. Personally I have time for BL but that’s about it. Re: Competing Union
If SW is the new MEC I will no choice but to support the other guys. SW is toxic and the company will not work with him, his past proves it. If this is the choice of the LEC they are completely out to lunch. WJ pilots should expect another garbage arbitrated agreement. I have read a lot of BS here ...

Re: Competing Union
So why the hatred? Why would...

Re: Competing Union
Another issue within itself when it comes to “voting the reps” is Just the pure lack of engagement. Nobody’s fault but our own. Sideline chat groups with no real information or lobbying to the “whole group”. It’s a joke. Then we get the reps we deserve. Far away base rep guys boasting about using al...

Re: Competing Union
If anything it shows the level of discontent within the group. Has alpa been great? Nope. That’s for sure and the rotation of leadership in the lec is a joke at best. Not on one side or the other. The amount of grievances are expensive but they are only a result of the contract we or us or our negot...

Re: Seniority Travel
Not sure why commuters deserve priority. They (me) made a choice not to live where they work. Why should that be rewarded? Some flights have 10+ commuters on them, I think it would be grossly unfair for a person traveling on vacation to be bumped on flight after flight by commuters. Nailed it. Far ...

Re: Seniority Travel
By this I mean your standby priority is based on your date of hire vs the ridiculous who presses the button first at 24 hrs from the flight. Hunger games. Are you suggesting that a retiree traveling for leisure should use his/her "seniority" too displace a "working stiff" Retirees have thei...

Seniority Travel
With many taking early retirement or furloughed in all departments is it time to push for seniority travel. I’m for it sitting middle of the pack.
