Re: Hearback/Readback..... What??!

cpl_atc you have obviously demonstrated that you have NEVER been in a busy cockpit before. Yeah I know when you got your CPL you probably thought you knew everything there was to know about aviation. Errors sometimes happen and it's up to all of us to work together to ensure they happen as infrequen...

Re: Narks new toy:

How difficult a process is it to get the restricted FAC? I've got a FAC for non-restricted (posession and acquistion) but am getting more interested in owning a handgun. Is there any way as a bush pilot working in remote areas you could ever obtain a permit to carry one on person?

Ever stay at any hotel near the Winnipeg Airport? All you can hear through the night are those goddamn metros being run up. And they HAVE a concrete wall.

Here is my experience with full flaps in the Beaver. First, the Beaver I'm flying has the Baron mod with the 5370 upgross. The old flap placard has been replaced with a new one that reads: Cruise - 0 Climb - 15 Baron - 25 Takeoff - 35 Landing - 50 I have tried around 15 or more landings at the "Land...

Beaver in the trees

Found this one too. An amazing video of a DHC-2 forced into the trees (nobody was seriously hurt).

I know Borek's pilot bases are Calgary and Edmonton but do you know if there are any Twotter drivers that rotate from Vancouver?

I never thought the work was that bad. Two weeks in one week out was nice. The only time it sucked was if you had a driller that liked to scream and yell. If you had a good crew it could be a lot of fun. It was nice to make the move up to Roughneck from Leasehand though. That way YOU were the one bo...

I'm sure everybody's goal is perfection. The fact is that it is EVIDENT that this is not occuring in day to day operations. Would you not agree to this? You can go to any airport and watch poor landing after poor landing. Striving toward a goal and actually attaining it CONSISTENTLY are two differen...

Cat in no way am I talking about being in or out of control of an a/c. Obviously that HAS to be down pat. What I am talking about is a smooth stable approach, touching down on the centre of the first 100 ft. of the runway....gently with no wandering, in any wind conditions.

Let me be clear that there is no "fearing" of anything. And I am not concerned with decision making, etc...I was more trying to convey the fact that the "hands and feet" skill of flying is hard to perfect. And since I have personally watched some 705 operators still wheelbarrowing airplanes when lan...

When did you finally "Get It?'

How many hours was it before you commercial guys felt you had it all figured out (stick and rudder wise)? 500, 1000, 5000, 10,000, never? And by that I mean could be totally relaxed and have consistently great landings in strong, gusty crosswinds, etc...Or are you always kind of tense in these situa...

"Comments" in your logbook

Do a lot of you guys ever fill the "comments" section in your logbook with personal remarks? Ie. bad weather, engine troubles, crazy winds, etc... Seems like everyone I fly with leaves it completely blank out of fear for retribution fron Transport when it comes time to hand it in for their ATPL.
