Re: Airshow act turns tragic.

A sad weekend for airshows indeed. We're also mourning the loss of airshow veteran aerobatic pilot Bryan Jensen who lost control during a precision spin and was unable to recover. Our thoughts go out to the families of these men. And to those who would criticize their acts as foolish or stupid, the ...

Re: STS-135 Space Shuttle Launch: A Final Voyage

Thanks for the links Apollo! I'll be sure to have a look if the launch goes ahead. I hope the weather turns around. Given that this is the Shuttles last trip though, I wouldn't be surprised if it didnt since this one has to be absolutely perfect.

STS-135 Space Shuttle Launch: A Final Voyage

Friday, July 8th at 11:26am: Countless throngs of travellers line the shores of Titusville, Florida and gaze out across the calm waters at Cape Canaveral. With eager anticipation, their eyes strain through shimmering heat waves to see every inch of the great white craft that stands erect just a few...

$9500 is the bond, and they'll make monthly payments for you without fail (from what I hear anyways) As long as you're okay with getting sent to YXL, and not dead-set on YQT, it's an okay gig.

Don't worry folks..no longer interested in applying! I'd be an idiot to turn a blind eye to that much negative feedback. Well actually...I'd be just another one of those d-bags that settle for garbage and force the rest of us folks with self-respect and integrity to struggle for work. :x

Re: Co-Pilot (The North West Company) - Can't submit resume?

If I had a nickel for every time I get asked when I'm going to be a commercial pilot OFD!! Riles me up just thinking about it  My favourite piece of personal advice was that I received from the wonderful gent whose job it was to call me and inform me I'd been denied EI. Amen to that. 1100 hours here and out of 40+ companies I've spoken to, only 4 or 5 have taken the time to even reply. Not sure what I hate more, a PFO letter or being outright ignored :? So story time kids..At the end of an uneventful day of job-hunting at the airport, I walked into a Mac's Convenie...

Re: Co-Pilot (The North West Company) - Can't submit resume?

Sometimes the reality in this industry is nothing but hilarious. LOL  Apart from being very sad. But, positive I remain, for success I shall gain ;) There is light at the end of the tunnel - at least that's what I believe. There are way too many bitter people in the industry, and I had experie...

Co-Pilot (The North West Company) - Can't submit resume?

Anyone else who tried applying have this issue? I went to the website as directed, filled out a brief survey (quite vague...clearly designed for a non-aviation job) and upon hitting the "next" button, the application was sent and an email forwarded to me thanking me for my interest and stating that ...

Re: Calgary IFR Renewal for $599?

A whole whack of guys from Wasaya, Bravo, Bearskin etc have been going there so far with really great results. You've lost me there. Why are the pilots of two 705 airlines and a medevac operator doing MIFR rides in a Frasca FTD? From what I hear its a mix of guys looking to upgrade to Captai...

Re: Calgary IFR Renewal for $599?

Confederation College in Thunder Bay offers MIFR renewal training as well. They do it on a Frasca Beech Baron in about 4 days of training. $120/hr for the sim and $50/hr for the instructor. Examiner's in-house and a really great guy as well. A whole whack of guys from Wasaya, Bravo, Bearskin etc hav...

Right there with ya bro. Times are right difficult right now and the availability of jobs is depressing at best. Re: IATRA questions

Just wrote the IATRA today with good results. I've taken Elessar_44's questions and added to them with what I remember. Definitely wayyy overstudied for this one, but I did the leg-work first and then read all the questions on here last night as a review. Easy test! - the operator, in respect to an ...

I completely agree with that concept. However, can we be assured that AC Jazz is going to remain financially stable enough to fund college programs? Probably not, and they're no comparison to giants like BA and CP who fund their own programs, but it is a valid point. I'm happy that at least there ar...

Well Bravo everyone. You've managed to demonstrate exactly the type of attitude that has kept this industry in a slump for decades. Well as a student from Confederation college (apparently the radio- call "thorn" in everyone's side) I can vouch for the fact that there is a considerable amount of unnecessary radio chatter up here. Find an instructor with whom you can easily interact. If you're the type of person who doesn't deal with stress well at first, try to get in with a more lay-back instructor.
