Re: Flair off runway excursion YKF
Based on the check in time that someone else posted here (around 6pm or so) then they were good for 12 hours so yes, a YVR-YKF-YVR turn is possible. Tight. But possible. That would be a normal shift for a doctor or nurse in the hospital. They do 12+ hours on the back side of the clock all the time,...

Re: 705 PIC vs 737 type
Contrary to what many here have suggested, when looking at the new hire bios, a significant proportion seem to be coming from either a: 1) 705 turbo-prop training captain/CP position; or, 2) 737/767 FO position In the 737/767 FO category, several of them were only flying in that position for 6-8 mon...

Re: AC schedule???
I don't think any RP spots have been made available to new hires for six or seven ground schools, including several pre-COVID ground schools. You could always bid NB FO spot as a new hire, then bid for a base transfer to an RP spot during a company wide bid. While you're frozen to our first aircraft...

Do I have this right? Air Canada union is led by insider company management doing back door deals and making decisions to benefit the company? This sounds just like government! This is exactly how socialisim works. You pay taxes (or in this case union dues) for people to act on your behalf and mak ...

Re: What to expect as a new Fo.
I was told a 1st yr FO at AC is $3700 that includes perdiums. 1st yr Cpt at Jazz is $5000 that also included perdiums... not the same Block holder at AC taking home $4200ish/month with per diems. Those Jazz number likely reflect some overtime, or at least flying above the min guaranteed. $4600-$470...

Re: What to expect as a new Fo.
What is the monthly take home for a year 1 AC FO ? Not defending the salary in the slightest, but with the amount of deductions at Jazz, take home for a year 1 FO at AC is pretty similar to year 1 CA at Jazz. The other problem is expect between 700-1000/ month in your after tax dollars to go to you...

I'm not a huge fan of the guy's messaging, but to play devil's advocate, "Captain Kirkk" appears to be a fake account not linked to "CaptainKirk" (aka KD). I think someone is just trying to get everybody's blood pressure up.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
There's around 130 pilots still on furlough, so this bid suggests the planned hiring of a significant number of pilots in the next 12 month period.

For reference, I've been working in the industry for seven years now. My mean annual gross salary for that timespan was $50k and my median was $36k. I had one high-income year ($82k), which is contributing to the greater mean.

Yes, "a bit." Not very much though. Did you wear a mask during flu season, in the before time? I certainly hope so, because if you did not, you might have killed an elderly person. Covid will not be eradicated, so do you plan to wear a mask everywhere for the rest of your life? Check the mortality ...

Re: Truckers convoy
If you're vaccinated, why would you need to wear a mask? Vaccines do not prevent transmissibility completely. Masks help a bit. Since masks are so easy to wear, if they result in even one life being saved, wouldn't they be worth it? Doctors and nurses wear masks every day, so why can't we? Honestly...

How many of those 140 have deferred their recall? Hearing some early rumblings about a PIT course in May or June. We won't know until after the results are released in mid-February. That said, I highly doubt there'll be a PIT as a result of any bypassing. If everyone decides to defer, the company w...

The fact of the matter is, even if they wanted everyone back on property tomorrow, there just aren’t the training resources available to retrain everybody currently on furlough, in addition to all of the events triggered by the last bid. AC announced another round of recalls yesterday for 138 pilot...

It sounds like the government is on the verge of reimposing further travel restrictions. What's the over/under this will affect recalls and the everyone back by June plan?

Re: Contrasting views on doing VO.
Doing a bit of VO to take up some of the slack while we recover from Covid doesn't even come close. Again, what if the company uses this to justify slowing down recalls, given the new travel restrictions coming into effect? You're acting like recalling at the fastest pace is virtually guaranteed at...

Ripplerock,
It's clear this new variant will have a negative impact on travel thanks to the new government restrictions. Do you think it not plausible AC will slow down recalls, knowing that any surplus flying can be covered by VO?

Was it not evidence enough when AF said people still need to mask even if vaccinated? What more evidence do you need when experts back tracked and saidwe still need to mask? The "vaccine" is not as effective as initial claims. This is why we are masking. It's nothing to do with the non vaccinated, ...

Instead of resorting to belittlement and name-calling, how about you provide any credible, quantitative proof of your claims.
I also once again ask you to please show me one single vaccine that has ever been developed which is always effective 100% of the time.

85.120% of 12 plus are fully vaccinated. Yes, but total number is what counts. The virus doesn't care if you're eligible for the vaccine or not. It can still disproportionately spread and pose negative health effects to 1 in 4 of Ontario's population. You keep making these vaccine ineffectiveness c...

It literally took me 20 seconds to find that once again, you're spouting false claims. Only 75% of Ontario residents have been fully vaccinated, so 1 in 4 still pose a higher risk. Hardly insignificant.

Ah yes, just like your "Texas has a lower case load per capita than Canada" claim, which was easily disproven. Like I've said before, you wouldn't see any need to increase these restrictions if more people got vaccinated. You only need to look at the ratio of vaccinated v. unvaccinated that are clog...
