Naw, YOW base here, won't get into specifics, but aside from "time on type", I have all prerequisites to go left seat.

Vanislepilot - you think upgrades are going to be that quick? I've heard mixed from different captains. On the one hand - jets, people will want to be able to climb over weather instead of go through/divert around. on the other hand - Do you really want to be sitting reserve for months on end and ne...

Re: Future
Because it's not 100k to start, it's about 40k, if you don't have experience, Jason. I understand take-home isn't the 'total compensation', I've heard of guys leaving where I'm at to go to 705s. To follow if I so wanted, I would end up taking a 60% pay cut, to move to a larger city, with one of the ...

Re: Babcock acquiring SkyNorth
Would be interesting to see.
To the best of my knowledge, Fast (Vanguard) is still its' own entity, and the lear is still wetleased from Sunwest.
If it DOES go through, I guess the joke about "do you work for EIC, or Babcock?" wouldn't be too far off the truth.

Re: Vanguard Air Care
I will add this posting is mostly about expansion. Recently opened winnipeg “basic” vs critical base and added a plane. Also looking to have reserve crews finally. A couple of FO’s and captains are headed to 705, but its pretty stable here. That explains MNM. Those autostarts sure would be nice, in...

Re: New Duty Regs
With the new CARs duty regs coming into effect for 704 in Dec 2022, I'm wondering if anyone knows what flight depts are planning on doing for scheduling. Specifically regarding 700.119: An air operator shall provide each flight crew member with the following time free from duty: (a) at least 36 con...

Re: "Unrestricted Visual" vs "Visual"
Certain airports (YWG for instance) list restrictions in the CAP on speed / where to join final / altitude when performing a visual approach. "Unrestricted visual" would, in theory, waive those restrictions. We usually get "Join final at, or outside <FAF>" when we're visual into YWG. My understandi...

I didn't think so, but wanted to confirm without asking over the radio like a putz. Appreciate it, thanks Scuderia.

"Unrestricted Visual" vs "Visual"
Regardless of which airport, if you are cleared for either one of the above, since you are not shooting a "published approach", would you still be subject to the PUBLISHED speeds?
Note: I'm talking about published speeds at IAF/FAF, **NOT** CARS speeds.
Appreciate!

Re: Air Canada pilot refuses to get vaccinated, in peril of losing job
All of this bickering is quite entertaining. Please continue. At the end of the day, in order to fly commercially in Canada, you will need to be fully vaccinated by November 30, 2021. I don't see that restriction being lifted until at least the end of 2022. The reality is, we're arguing and only ge...

Making 50 in YYZ? People probably did their due diligence and realized they couldn't actually make it work, without living with mom and dad.

Re: Recent issues in Red Lake
Can't speak to YRL, but YOH always seems like there's that small "are they working?" combined with a dash of "...comm failure?" pause before Kenora Radio responds going in there. If other places are experiencing this too, you could give benefit of the doubt and say "old equipment", or it could very ...

As discussed, and oversimplified, with some crew while waiting for the phone to ring on medevac schedule: All the 300hr wonders with "frozen" atpl's aren't upgradable, if they stayed, they'll be right seat lifers. Mandatory retirements Early retirements Guys saying "screw this noise" to all the extr...
