Re: Coolest Airports in the Prairies

Easterville(CKM6) Mb., the only way you can tell it’s a runway is the windsock, it doubles as a road to the dump(I believe), trees at both ends.

Re: Westjet CYHZ

With winds of 010/14G22 (if I understand the previous post correctly, these winds were given by tower, therefore in deg mag), the tailwind component would be of 09G14 kts - that just seems like a lot of tailwind component to accept, even without a contaminated runway. Not that it can't be done, but...

Re: Avro Arrow blueprints on display after sitting in Sask. man's home for decades

It would be great, but probably easier to design a better aircraft from scratch given the 65 years of advances in metallurgy and composites, aerodynamics, aircraft systems, and manufacturing processes. And considering a modern fighter is nearly breaking the worlds best funded military, I don’t thin...

Re: Avro Arrow blueprints on display after sitting in Sask. man's home for decades

As built? As in reverse engineered after the construction of the prototype? The Arrow used the Cook-Craigie plan which meant the first planes were essentially production models made with production tooling and thus there was no prototype Arrow save a wooden mock-up for validation. The DC-8 was also...

Can someone please answer my previous question:- Is there a requirement at Canadian Airlines to compute the landing distance prior to commencing approach? This is mandatory under EASA and we have to write both the required and the factored landing distance (115%) on the CFP. This is from 2005 after...

Land as soon as possible has been removed from many checklists by the lawyers. The term land at nearest suitable airfield leaves the decision with the pilot to decide what is "suitable" under the circumstances. It removes some liability from the checklist authors by leaving "suitable" up to the pil...

Hey guys, No idea where I should actually post this so dont kill me if its in the wrong spot. This is more of a question than anything. WJ pilots have scope but my understanding is Encore can have Jets, I imagine they might now be motivated to take some Jet flying from the mainline pilots. Wow some people really have problems, dont they? Here is an idea Capitaine: go to AC provided they will take you, and if you don't like it, go back to a regional or whatever floats your boat. Then you will know whether you will like it or not. The flying world has never been one of 9-5. At some poi...

The transfer of flying is scheduled to be completed by the end of February(from memory), while this happens so will the transfer of pilots. I suspect the courses will be mostly GGN until then.
