KSTP to KSGS, 4.5 nm and KGSP to KGMU, 6.8 nm. Both in a jet, they make for quick flights.

Re: Love Flying, hate travelling
I got into this business 14 years ago to travel and see places. After living out of a suitcase for the last half of that, the novelty has wore off, and the reality is, like the last poster said, there is little time or opportunity to see anything when you’re stuck at the airport hotel, on min rest, ...

Re: Flair struggling?
I thought history had already demonstrated that the ULCC model doesn’t work in Canada. I never expected this NewLeaf/Flair venture to last as long as it has.

But on a long haul flight will they serve anything more than cookies or bits and bites?

I’ve never flown a Navajo so I have no experience with it. How reliable/accurate are the fuel gauges?

Also the lavs are getting smaller and smaller. I don’t know how anyone above average in size even fits in there. The location of them at the very back of the galley also must be annoying for the FAs.

I’ve had the pleasure (misfortune?) of flying on Air Georgian only once. I have never seen an airplane with so many MEL placards in the cockpit in my life.

Back in the day I got a job flying a Caravan with only 1000 hours and I thought I had won the lottery. Now everyone thinks they’re entitled to fly a 705 jet with the same. Times have sure changed.

Wow. You can hear the stress in the controller's voice. It must be difficult to keep it together in that kind of situation.

Re: 26 Oct 2017 - 2 dead after plane crash near Springbank Airport, west of Calgary
I flew in right after it happened and took off again shortly thereafter. The accident site was less than 1 mile south of the departure end of RWY 17 and just slightly east of centreline. Very sad.

Re: AC in SFO. Again...
I agree that this is probably nothing more than finger trouble. I found myself in the opposite situation once, having been cleared for takeoff and given the departure frequency, I dialled it in and accidentally hit the swap button. As (bad) luck would have it we did a rejected takeoff and I announce...

Re: Will the Canadian "pilot shortage" reach U.S. levels?
What a shame. All the low time newly minted pilots clamouring for an airline job right off the bat. While the airlines certainly offer predictability and eventually stability, the northern and bush flying I did early in my career remains my favourite work to date. I did have the good fortune to work...

I'd think the bad should be obvious. You only get 3 days off in every 17 days. I see no good in it at all.
