Re: Extended furlough and going back up North

Personally, I wouldn't hire a furloughed airline pilot without a really hefty non-prorated bond. It was hard enough to keep 1000 hour pilots for more than a year, and I know that the second the call comes in you're gone with as much notice as you can give, which could be very little. To top it all ...

Crash Site Near CYPC

Howdy, I have a friend that asked me about getting to ~30 SE of YPC, N69 15 W123 24. His younger brother crashed in a Dakota in 1971 (Crash #123930). I don't have any experience with the western arctic. Any Aklak folks here that help. Anyone seen that wreck in their travels? He'd like to visit the s...

Re: Digital logbook recommendations

Been using a homemade excel logbook for nearly 20 years. Easy, modifiable and free. Great way to learn excel and VBA. Among other things, I have it print pages which I put into a binder and use an HP sprocket to add pictures to it. A pilot once said about a logbook, Make it your own, for most it's t...

Re: Logging cruise relief time outside of Canada

Who's "Murray"? Is he like your neighbour or something? Does he come over with "Calin" for bbq and beer on the weekend? Mr. Strom is senior management, not our friend on a first name basis... unless he's your neighbour or something from the past, but even then when related to work he's not doing us...

^ What he said. Recurrent sims are RP only (eval above 10,000") though, initial one is full type rating at AC. Log the hours, not the take-off and landings.

Been a while since I've posted...

I have an aluminum landscape binder for my logbook, picked it up at Vistek in Toronto.

Here's the manufacturer website, they have some pretty cool ones

I was thinking the same thing. So I went to Continental's Website and booked a Q400 ride EWR-BUF and came out round trip with taxes to $550 US. That's more extensive that a charter to Europe.

Re: What would you do? Single Engine Missed Approach

Depends on the airplane and fuel situation. 704 or 705 airplanes have no problem doing a single engine missed. Fuel may make you bust minimums and land. You can bust minimums and land if you have a good reason to. Being on fire or having no gas are very good reasons to me, especially if your alterna...

=sumif("range of dates of flights",month you want,"range of flight time entries")

it's all in the help menu. Sumif, countif, vlookup, hlookup, match and index. With these funtions you can make your excel spreadsheet do anything.

It's shouldn't take 100 hours. More like 20 minutes.

I use excel and the paper logbook. The excel logbook spits out pages for me so I've been using that for the past year now. Paper is too prone to mistakes.
