Re: Well that was a good run...
More WestJet misinformation being spread through their politburo (the globe and mail). Flair hasn't cut any flights at all, let alone 600 of them. Not one. Can you point out exactly where in this article any information or comments came from Westjet? Do I really need to? WestJet spends 30 Million d...

Re: Invites for 2024 GS?
Pump the brakes! Lots of questions here that will not be answered on public forums with information and data from the parties involved that will provide factual guidance. This process is being worked through, conjecture and stating what will happen based on personal desires will not help and only dr...

Cadet, I believe you understand the balance of pros and cons of this program so I will save you my opinion that topic. What I will add to the conversation is that not everyone is destined for the airlines and the lifestyle that it provides. You mentioned relocation being a factor and that's fine, ma...

Re: Westjet cancelling flights due to cold in Calgary
The cold has been causing issues with LOUT, equipment, personnel, network planning (AC location), and irop recovery. It's a combination of all of these factors that most likely caused proactive cancellations as we near the end of the bitter cold temps here in the prairies. I had a delay for a few ho...

Re: Picking up opentime
Absolutely, gets a bit trickier with the days off requirements on either side of the reserve block but is doable if you are not commuting. You could still if you had to commute, however the days left in the month may be too small to make it worthwhile.

Our COM section 3.7.7 states we can access non-operational reading material provided we follow the Flight Deck Reading Material guidance in section 3.7.8. We have to stop our personal texting and have all electronic devices in airplane mode 15 minutes prior to departure. The COM states clearly when ...

Re: 777 Funded Flair Using Insurance Customers' Deposits
... Does anyone really believes Canadian customers entering a recession can support - AC - WJ/SWG - Porter - Transat - Flair - Lynx - Jetlines Especially at 25$ a fare ? With these lease rates ? I don’t get it. The question you should be asking, is if going into a recession Porter, AC, and WestJet'...

The Flight Ops team at WestJet is aware of number of tails and pilots integrating into our operations. We are currently still hiring multiple classes per month throughout the first quarter in 2024. Hiring is still planned beyond Q1 with a plan up to the potential integration of lists. Our executive ...

Co Joe,
Yes! As I trust my family with your company, until the data and my friends at the transport safety board dictate otherwise I do. I am privileged in my position with WestJet to work with lots of our colleagues from all companies. I’m sorry you have trust issues.

Re: Do you feel safe as a passenger when the captain has minimal hours on type?
No I don't feel safe as a passenger on Jazz or Encore if that's what you're asking. What a classless post! I have had the privilege to work with both Jazz, and Encore pilots coming through the WestJet training program. Their preparedness for ground-school or sim sessions is second to none. Their de...

Re: Expired CAT 1 Medical for over 60 months
Given the time between, lack of consecutive data, and original CAME being retired, you can anticipate treating this as a new application for a CAT1. You will have to complete the audiogram and ECG as well for new baseline start numbers/

I beg to differ gentlemen! With improvements on CA2 and the continual evolution of the relationship between the different floors and association, WestJet is no longer a stepping stone company. I have been cynical in the past myself, however like it or not for the first time in a while we have a clea...

Re: Help me with SARON questions.....
Shylnj26 The gotcha in that question is the wording of "minimum torque." They want to know what torque setting will safely lift 30,350 lbs and 33,100 lbs respectively from a chart that already factors length and slope. You do not have to make any adjustments as per the bottom headwind/tailwind graph...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Colleagues, We can speculate and discuss until we are blue or in some cases red in the face. This process will develop and people will in the end be in different locations on the master pilot list. The merger committees will work in the best interest of the “entirety” of their respective groups. Ple...

PittBoss,
That’s beyond the scope of my knowledge as things change week to week. If I was to guess I would think at least two ground schools in Jan.

Keep applying! Timing right now at most carriers may be a little slower due to the Christmas season approaching. We have two ground schools for November already filled from what I can see. Training typically slows down in December due to the busy season and all hands required on line. With the two g...

Re: "We want our pilots to be entirely free from any financial consideration when they take a safety-related decisionWes
Morning, WestJet management past and present have been unwavering in their message to line crews regarding safety. "See something, say something!" At no time have we ever been instructed to obvert safety or the safest course of action. The management team here are busy in the office and get minimal ...
