Re: ARE WE LOSING THE RIGHT TO PROTEST?
I'm all for peaceful protests but I'm starting to fall into that camp. When you hear stories of the protestors demanding food from places like the Shepherds of Good Hope food/homeless shelter then throwing out a bunch of racial slurs directed at the security guard who's just trying to defuse the si...

Re: What is flat pay?
What is the logic/reasoning behind it? Why would the union vote in favor of it? For MOA1, we didn't get a vote. The MEC of the day passed it without ratification. Under the leadership of one of the worst Chair's we've had in recent memory. As for the DBM-2 issue, the negotiating team conveniently o...

Re: What is flat pay?
We had a chance to fix this 4 year pay scale in 2014, however a whopping 84% of the membership were fine with it and locked it in till 2024. Well when your own union buys in to and sells the fear to the membership, that's what happens. Thankfully we have some new blood including a few young rebel r...

Re: ARE WE LOSING THE RIGHT TO PROTEST?
Guess this question has been asked and answered today. What IS a legal protest now anyway, as the PM on one hand has spoken his intention to arrest everyone in Ottawa (implied), on the other “this will not prevent the protected right to protest”. Where? My own backyard, if it doesn’t bother my neig...

Actually, as time goes by, I am more and more hoping for arrests to clear them out. I'm all for peaceful protests but I'm starting to fall into that camp. When you hear stories of the protestors demanding food from places like the Shepherds of Good Hope food/homeless shelter then throwing out a bun...

Re: What is flat pay?
The modern “flat pay” which was increased to 4 years after FOS, is not truly flat, as it is an hourly rate after 75 hours, or more simply an hourly rate with a 75 hour guarantee. Well they did bump everyone down to 55 hours on Covid MOA1. So is it really a minimum? And now there's a dbm-2 for reser...

Re: Truckers convoy
Funny, Trudeau was happy to support the Indian farmers protest, which blocked of blocks of a city. Impacted farming, food supply etc. But a few weeks of inconvenient honking in Ottawa is suddenly sedition. Give me a fucking break. This PM will go down in the history books, and not in a positive mann...

Ok, you try bombing around the circuit with a student trying to kill you every 4 minutes, and then tell me it isn’t valuable experience. Fast forward to being a captain flying with an inexperienced FO, those skills help you decide how far to let them go before you take control. It’s amazing how muc...

Re: Truckers convoy
They have gone on deaf ears. No they haven't. Both ON provincial and federal governments have indicated they are removing restrictions. But I doubt the trucker convoy had much to do with that...it was likely going to happen anyway. Indicating means nothing. Drop all mandates now. Not next week, not...

Re: Truckers convoy
Why do we need to imagine this? It’s been essentially going on for almost 5 years. Also, not really understanding why this freedom protest is considered fully right wing? If so, people seeking freedom are right wingers, left wingers are therefore opposed to freedom. Actually, makes perfect sense. S...

The point is not everyone wants to work for themselves. I throw my uni on three times a month and forget about work the rest of the time. I get to spend time with my wife and son, freinds and have enough hobbies to keep me busy.

Why would Swoop exist if you think that WestJet does not want it to be successful? Do you think it would exist if it wasn't? I'll answer that one. Does WestJet want Swoop to be successful? Yes... at the expense of WestJet's employees. So you are accusing the company of malicious intent? Absolutely....

Go to youtube and search "Freedom Convoy" and sort by upload date. That takes the algorithm out of the equation (aka you see more than CTV, Global etc.) and you can see videos uploaded from many people. Including people just walking through downtown Ottawa. Kinda feels like you're there! Sure doesn'...

Re: Is an LPV a precision approach?
It only really matters when it comes to filing IFR alternates whether an approach is precision or non-precision. From a practical point of view if you can make it down to 200-250' and 1/2 mile it's as precision as I would ever expect it to be. I may be out of date with my knowledge (maybe I should w...

I worked at Jazz for 4 years, a bit over half of that as a Captain. And I'd say after mid 2016 is when I started seeing an increase in 300-500 hour FOs. And by 2017/2018 I'd say a solid 40-50% of my FOs were inexperienced college hires. Many were great, but even with their enthusiasm and good book k...
