Re: New Hire Sims?

Air Canada used to assume that by the time a person had an ATPL, 2000 hours, and a 705 Type Endorsement, that they could fly an airplane. Historically the assumption for the mist part held true. That assumption is now being challenged and has nothing to do with pay. I would argue that it does have ...

Re: Take-off Configuration after Type 4

The types I have flown, at least at my current company, have had the suggestion to delay flap deployment in those conditions. The complication is that one must decide when the appropriate time is to deploy, as we cannot complete several items on the before takeoff checklist until the flaps are in th...

It's not about the money, it's about the prestiage of flying the flag and being at the worlds best airline. NOT ONE person will be penalized for wearing the RED lanyard. It is the Union's right to display it. As long as it isn't offensive, the Corp has ZERO case against it. Listen to your MEC CHAIR. Negotiations are going on right now. DO AS YOU'RE TOLD. Pick up the rope and pull. Do your share. If you a...

Got my CPL in 2005… took until 2012 to break $100k… dropped back below that level in 2018, didn’t break it again until 2022… then had it broken by May 17, 2023, and broke $200k for the first time ever on Nov 17th.

Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.

This might be difficult to answer, but let's say a candidate gets hired at the start of 2025 when this hiring boom should slow down, how many years could they expect to put in before they make left seat on a widebody? Obviously it would depend on the base and aircraft, but what would be a reasonabl...

Re: Thunder Airlines MU2 accident in Wawa

The MU2 can land in very short distances. Flaps 40 approach over the fence at 90 knots, touch down at 80 knots, immediate full reverse, brakes, will yield well under 1000 ft, maybe 700 ft. Landing is never the problem in an MU2, you can always land shorter than you can takeoff. Wawa is 4500' and 10...

Aircanada pay rates Do these 2022 base rate increase at 2% per annum? Let say, today a year 5 FO is making 109.58. Someone starting today on the same fleet and position could see a 10% bump (5x2%) 5 years from now, making the base salary 120.53? I hope my question is clear. Thanks Yes. Or hopefully...

I have never personally been in a position that used this, but I know it is used for some rotational positions, where you might work 120-196 hours in one two week period, then zero in the next. Or a less extreme example, a former company had some employees on a 4 day on/4 day off schedule. So hours ...

By 2019, Rouge flying was not necessarily all the high productivity pairings… you mixed high credit turns with extremely low credit (no DPG meant we had 3 day pairings worth 6 hours) Regional Replacement flying, and seemed to work 16 days every month. I still liked it, but it wasn’t the same as the ...

There was a time when they hired a fair number of people with only 703 time. But as we have all seen the music stop wi...

Hello all, Quick question. Do the flight and duty times described in AC 700 - 047 apply to 702/703 operators? It relates to maximum day flight and duty, between 9 and 13 hours, depending on the time of day and average flight times. If these are the current requirements, how are we possibly supposed...
