Re: New Chinese stealth fighter
Happy Thursday! I deleted a bunch of offtopic crap. I should have probably deleted the boomer house prices stuff too but it's actually a lot of work to delete stuff on these forums, I have to delete each post individually and it takes a few clicks for each post. Let's try to keep it on topic! Keepi...

Re: Funding flight training
In this country? Without exception, if you are a young kid, it would be the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. Being in this organization enables your kid to enter the aviation business surrounded by aviation enthusiasts. If I was too old for that, I would still ensure I surrounded myself with like minded p...

Fire resistant clothing
Hello all. Has anyone a suggestion as to where I may acquire fire resistant clothing for my son? He is a flight instructor at a reputable college. He wears a white shirt, tie and black dress pants. So that limits my search. Do they make underwear flame retardant? I was wondering if there is a go-to ...

Re: Forgot to Notify Minister of Freelance
What has always worked for me, although I'm out of the game these days, is with TC, you get personal. Find the guy who works your area and pay him a visit. Anyone of them will help you out if you go about it properly. Phone first is good. Look at the Gov't offices in your region. Give him a heads up...

It is a bad deal. Tough go. My kid has mentioned about applying for U.S. work one day, later in his career. I had know idea these types of companies existed. Thanks for the warning.

Re: No Escape.
I am on rookie pilot’s side. I really dislike the adverts that play after the safety demonstration on Air Canada. Before one of you asshat AvCanada combat specialists says “well you have a choice not to go on Air Canada”… no, I actually don’t. I’m travelling for work, and my airline makes me go on ...

Next time you vote, ask your politician if he supports this collusion keeping the people whom live here from making a respectable wage.

Another task added to the load. Good call to proceed home. Many years (30) of C.Guard sar spent looking for reflections in the night. Usually in bad wx. LOL.

Re: Most efficent way to get CPL in Toronto? (Relatively inexpensive & faster)
I’m trying to help the OP interpret the marketing information given by Brampton Flying Club. Sault College isn’t in the GTA and doesn’t meet the needs stated. The link was for the OPs benefit, to see that just because the front desk says $90k and two years doesn’t make it so. I’m very happy that yo...

https://www.northernontariobusiness.com/industry-news/training-education/sault-college-addresses-pre-covid-flight-time-issues-with-aviation-program-2823474 I’m happy that they’ve turned things around, but the point stands. A college or school doesn't have any incentive to publicize negative informa...
Similarly with the duration: Sault College allegedly has people leaving the third year of their CPL/MIFR programme with nothing but a PPL.
For clarity on the College. We are happy with our son's progress so far. Seems to be flying regularly and s quite satisfied. Just say'in. Cheers.

Re: Cessna Caravan C208B initial training
Sorry if this sounds silly but could you not just look up airports that have caravans operating and call the company and ask if they know where to go for instruction? Buttonville got any? etc.

So glad to hear the tradition continues. I used to work in Downsview as a machinist in the 80's. How in gods name they have survived in this country is nothing short of a miracle. Real happy to see her going strong.

Sunwing union opposes Canadian carrier's plans to hire foreign pilots
These imports will be paid more than Canadian Pilots. Quote from Barret Armann, president of the union.: "It's a punch in the face," adding that Labor Minister Seamus O'Regan "needs to step in and stop this." unquote. In reply the Ministers statement on the Matter quote from his department: "A spoke...

Re: Aviation College or Flight School?
My kid just finished his first year at the Sault College. So far so good. Past his ppl and is currently in class and doing cross countries. Their is a lot of negative reporting about the College by disgruntled fail outs. Sure they have lost a lot of students for failed in class tests and check rides...

Re: Ornge
Wild speculation. Ornge will open a Southern Ontario base before improving pay and benefits. Since some of the discussion above was about the rotary wing side, I will point out that they do in fact have several Southern Ontario bases. For a lot of helo pilots, Ornge was pretty much the top of the f...
