Re: Medical privacy disclosure

Lots of fear mongering and conspiracy out there, but as I dug into this here is what I glean from it. Here’s the plain-language overview. What changed (in practical terms) Transport Canada now requires more explicit consent from pilots regarding: • What medical information is collected • How it may ...

Re: Medical privacy disclosure

I can understand the concern around this new disclosure. I’m not saying I endorse every detail of the policy, but from Transport Canada’s perspective, it’s largely making explicit what was already in place behind the scenes. They’re essentially giving full transparency on what pilots are signing off...

Re: Confidential Medical reporting

Digits, you nailed it. In aviation medicine, it’s unbelievably easy to gloss over—or flat-out omit—critical health details when your exam lives on paper. My GP’s office has an electronic health record that stitches together every lab result, specialist note, and medication detail into one searchable...

Re: Confidential Medical reporting

Bacon, you're not wrong, but knowing this individual, I know it will be met with lots of gaslighting and lies. If I go the anonymous route with TC, and have reported the health issues that I am seeing and have admitted to, then it should not be an issue with them because everything is being done wit...

Re: Confidential Medical reporting

I initially attempted to address the matter through the CAME, but the responsibility was redirected back to me, with a suggestion to speak directly with the individual involved. It appeared that the CAME was unwilling to engage in the situation. While I could consider escalating the issue through SM...

Confidential Medical reporting

Is there a discreet way to raise concerns about an individual's medical fitness—perhaps through Transport Canada—without necessarily initiating a formal or identifiable process?

So, are you saying that an Accountable Executive is never allowed to take holidays? Take some time to deal wth a family emergency or some other personal reason? That they must be around 24/7/365?

Has anyone here flown into Newark since the ATC debacle occurred there? Are there any issues with long EDCT in or out, or other issues you may have encountered?

Re: Contract flying in the USA

Now not too mention that the FAA has implemented the new following requirement; The FAA has published a new rule that will require certificate holders abroad to nominate a physical US address for service. This will be required from April 2 for any new applications; and July 7 for anyone who already ...

Re: Contract flying in the USA

Hi Dumbell, Thanks for the info—it’s really got me rethinking my options. If I don’t need a green card, contracting might be more achievable than I initially believed. I’m not drawn to the big iron; my interest lies with the super midsize Cessnas. I even had a US contact who worked exclusively with ...

Re: Contract flying in the USA

I must agree with the sentiment that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. As I approach retirement, I’ve been exploring options to remain involved while maintaining the flexibility to set my own schedule and avoid working for a traditional company. At this stage, my ideas are still in t...

Re: FSI vs CAE

You raise excellent points and I agree that it can be very subjective in one's experience. A person could have a great experience at one location with the same provider and the next year end up at a different location with the same institution, but end up having a disappointing experience.

Thanks for the critique. I, too, am an FSI fan. I took a course with CAE in YYZ many years back, and I was not too impressed...but I have no choice this year.

Thanks Khedrei! Good stuff to know and be aware of. My research looks like Plane, taxi, water taxi, taxi to get to accommodations, but I don't care about the costs as the client doesn't lol! Re: commerical operations 704/705 question

If you have a 10-seat aircraft and want to restrict the seating to 9 to be able to fall under 703, does it need to be on the company OC that you are allowed to do this, or can it just be done?
