I am really shocked at some of the posts here. This is discrimination at its finest. People forget that white men have comit some of the greatest crimes against humanity ever, but since they are in control now, everyone else is the target. I can't believe you guy are talking about detaining this guy...

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The lone air traffic controller on duty the morning Comair Flight 5181 crashed cleared the jet for takeoff, then turned his back to do some “administrative duties” as the aircraft veered down the wrong runway, a federal investigator said Tuesday. The crash killed 49 people — everyo...

Get a degree in whatever you want. Most places give preference to those who "hold a degree OR aviation diploma". So they seem a bout equal as far as hiring goes. But lets be honest... which one is going to be the most useful if you ever find yourself in a position where you can't fly (say you're in ...

While this thread has shifted gears slightly, I do want to comment on the new topic at hand (similar to the Instructor Salary thread). It would be great to see some instructors with more experience teaching. But the simple fact is that until/unless the pay goes up, its not going to happen. Why would...

However I know for a fact we used 20 (TC approved SOP) on the 182, and the plane made it off the ground just fine. Bush flying wether in cubs or a cessna, and yes 172, the plane definitely takes off sooner with more than 10, probably somewhere in the 18/20 range, once you're at takeoff speed. In a ...

Instructor pay is freaking criminal. Where else do you find people with trained skills making minimum wage or less with $30000 debts from schooling? I could make more money at a freaking McDonalds. Even if you're at work all day, when you only fly a max of 5 hours or so a day (weather permitting!!),...

Stay away from F.R. in Springbank unless you're ready to seriously consider jumping out of the plane mid-flight. Ha. That was funny. In physics terms, weight= mass * gravity. On earth, the value for gravity is 9.81 m/s2. It varies from planet to planet. Something has "weight" if the force of gravity is acting on it. On the moon, for instance, since the force of gravity (acting vertically downwards towards the center of the earth...

Yeah, I said that Fg is force due to gravity which is the same thing as weight.

four forces

Someone today tried to tell me that the four forces acting on an airplane are not lift, drag, thrust and weight, but in fact lift, drag, thrust and gravity.
