Spot on, there is no way they would expect someone to make up three months, has to be different courses.

Re: Does this situation really require the emergency equipment
Another factor to consider is everyone is assuming the CFR guys are in the hall unless they’re responding to an emergency. They aren’t always, they could be scattered around the airport doing fire inspections, gone off somewhere on a medical call, or worse case scenario live fire training. An empty ...

Re: An225 Jobs
Antonov was formed in 1946 in Novosibirsk, Russia (Soviet Union); by 1952 it relocated to Kiev/Kyiv and has been Ukrainian in spirit ever since. The 225 and some of the 124’s were/are operated by Antonov Design Bureau, they always had Ukrainian flags on them. Some of the 124’s operated by other comp...

Re: IS ATC Your Best Bud?
And I'm ready to stop posting as the response seem to assume I'm a bumbling idiot just because I'm a GA pilot. Unfortunately on forum's like this sometimes intent is misconstrued. In 35 years in ATS in a variety of positions I've dealt with a wide range of pilots, from flight training operations to...

“Exactly what I did in my first example, and I know they could see the weather too on their primary radar in that areas” Just want to weigh in on this... A lot of atc positions don’t have prime radar, and without prime radar we don’t see any weather. Even with prime radar we don’t see near as much a...

If your 18 months has expired in the last 3 or so months I would suggest you contact recruiting to see what your status actually is. Lots of Nav Canada staff have been working from home and lots of things are up in the air right now. It may take a bit of time to get an answer, but it's worth checkin...

Re: FIC locations in YEG FIR
There is no FIC in Gander, Newfoundland is served by Halifax FIC. Gander does have an FSS but it is an International FSS, it's main purpose is to communicate with oceanic traffic on HF radio, I don't believe they deal with any domestic traffic at all... They also have a unique and separate training ...

To answer your medical question, no you don't need to redo it as long as it is less than 2 years from the exam date if you are under 40 and one year if over forty. Normally most ATC hold a class 2 but a class 1 meets the requirements and the validity period is according to the chart in the back of t...

Re: Lights or no Lights during the day (For small GA AC)
After spending a good chunk of my life in a glass room looking for airplanes I'll offer this from a different perspective. Lights make you much easier to see, most people don't realize how difficult it is to see aircraft against some sky colors. Led's are much better than the older lights not only a...

There is no guarantee that if you get a green light that you will be offered a VFR course. I'm pretty sure though that if you accepted an offer for FSS and a VFR course subsequently became available and you had ranked high enough to receive an offer you would get an offer even though you had already...

Yeah they are told when they are offered the course that the course is national, if it doesn't say it's a national course in the training offer than it shouldn't be a national course. They will offer some assistance with moving expenses etc, but what that will be I have no idea. The national trainin...

Re: ATIS Winds Pop Quiz
The weather on the ATIS is the current METAR and the winds are directly from the METAR. I have never put the winds in as read off the wind instruments the format of the ATIS doesn't allow it.
The METAR is automatically loaded into the ATIS most of the time without any operator intervention.

Do the Quizzes you do at the end of each lesson in the ITA have any bearing or effect on your course. If you fail a lesson quiz in the Pre study information they send to you will it affect you when you start your course ? Nope we don't even really know if you've done the ITA or not. You will also have the chance to review the material for 1-2 weeks with instructors and classmates before the ITA exam. That's not always the case. The ITA is meant to be self study and in some cases the ITA exam has been written in the first week of the course. It depends on how long students have...

Outside of Nav Canada the only ones I know of are Canadian Base Operators which runs the tower in Southport Manitoba and Serco which runs the tower in Goose Bay Labrador or the Canadian Military.
Nav Canada hires in far greater numbers than anyone else because they have way more staff.

I don't know about the color code system not working "here" not knowing where "here" is. I've worked and visited a bunch of places across the country and it's used in an awful lot of places with varied levels training activity. By the way our color code system lets us know if it's a student, a stude...
