Re: Position Group Embraer Pay?
Yup! I picked the right company. Might be in your case, but still not my cup of tea. Nothing personal, just not my idea of what it should be all about. Might float your boat and that's great for you, but my boat doesn't float on Kool Aid (granted it doesn't float on peanuts either). On another note...

Re: !!!!!!!!!!! What is a Jumpseat ???????????
For you answer, a jumpseat is a seat in the cockpit not occupied by the crew. An empty cockpit seat basically. It's sometimes used to fly off-duty pilots, at the Captain's discretion. Additionally, a pilot can travel with another airline that his/her airline has an agreement with known as a recipro...

Position Group Embraer Pay?
Could someone please tell me what the take home pay if for a lowly YYZ EMB FO after the dreaded flat pay - i.e. third year second class pay? Based on an average month of course. I know it's going to be a shameful figure considering you are flying for the National Flag Carrier but unfortunately this ...

Re: Voyageur Airways
Good job HLH. Very informative and just the kind that makes AVCANADA a great resource. Wanted to add that unless things have changed recently, the bond is not prorated and if you choose to leave a day sooner before your year is up, they keep all of your money. Also want to correct a previous posters...

Don't forget the all important Northern experience. That used to be the standard PFO line that was given back in the day.

During my instructing days at Buttonville just North of Toronto, it was the duty pilot's job to make sure the airplanes were deiced and ready to go. The duty shifts were usually assigned to the lowest in seniority and we worked our way up from there. On my duty days I would get there at 5.30 a.m. an...

I guess it's not necessarily such a bad thing? Sit there, enjoy the view, monitor the thing, get paid.. Apart from jetlagging and hotels of course :) Good position once you're closer to retirement Hey FL_CH, just curious if that's GGMT rolling down Rwy 15 in CYKZ past hangar 14 in your avatar. Chee...

Getting pretty tired of people dumping on my city. I love it here in Toronto and think Southern Ontario is awesome.

Break even on the Q400 with low cost structure should be what?? 34 pax? It's less than that. If I can remember what Bombardier was advertising it's more like 25 or around there. I see on their website that they are offering YUL-Mont-Tremblant?? Are they nuts!! The airport at Tremblant is 30Km north...

Like "pointyertoes" says it's not that it is hard to land, but hard to grease with any consistency. You can have it perfectly set up and just when you think it's going to kiss the ground - thunk! It's a fantastic airplane and flys pretty much like a jet. The acceleration on the takeoff roll, especia...

No not at all opposed to Georgian . In fact I don't know much about it at all. What I was trying to say was that you might want to consider a college program like Seneca if finances are an issue. I am assuming that you have to pay for all your flying at Georgian. Also Seneca is a degree program now ...

As far as the age thing goes, don't worry about it. You have plenty of time to have a productive career. I was 27 when I first took the controls of a 150 and 29 when I graduated from an Aviation College program. I am now 37 and at Air Canada. I recommend a college program like Seneca or Sault in Ont...

Captain pay in YTS & YXL starts at 65K. Are you sure about that? Last I heard that was only for the YQT base they were trying to start up due to the limited flying out of there. They are notorious for advertising the absolute best case scenario so if you are interested I would urge you to be thorou...

you'll be flying a king air into reserves during blizzards and going home having to put wing covers on while making your 45 K a year. Yuck! I just had a wickedly bad flashback.
