Similarly, traffic arriving from west will normally land on the west runway (35L/17R...

Re: Questions for CYYC Terminal? Ask here
"YYC supposedly has the LOC monitor position, something that is required for independent sim approaches, but somehow i doubt it will be used much, especially with their staffing situation as described above." We are using the monitor position for independents, sporadically as required, but it works ...

Re: CYYC runway walk
Hello Co-Joe, A new piece of pavement will not fix all of our woes but will go along way in reducing airborne delays and queues to depart. The next Terminal course starts in September (again) and there will be a yearly course for the foreseeable future. Growing pains? Sure, some. Both units, Tower a...

Re: Questions for CYYC Terminal? Ask here
After the inital familiarization period in which we hope to get everyone up to speed with all aspects of dependant and independant ops, we are planning on using the ILS monitor on an as required basis and our staffing numbers have gone up.

Re: Questions for CYYC Terminal? Ask here
Aircraft must to be separated by 1000' until "established", then depending on the mode, a minimum 2 mile stagger will be run, or if an ILS monitor is in place the stagger is not required.

Re: Questions for CYYC Terminal? Ask here
RAPT is a Calgary Airport authority program. I am not sure what its future will be with the new runway opening in May/June.
It did (does), at times, help to spread demand out a bit but we still use TMU(W) to manage excess demand over capacity...today will be a prime example of that.

Actually, the "critical design aircraft" is the A380, operating at an airport elevation of 3500' ASL on a hot summer day etc.

Sure they can. I am one, but I am not sure of the status of the "experienced controller" program.
Best if you contact the company through their http://takecharge.navcanada.ca/en/ page.
PM me if you have any specific questions.

Re: Traverse YYC class C and other questions
In the US I would call up approach with my location and ask to transit the airspace in the direction I wanted to go. I never got turned down in any of the places I asked (Houston, Dallas, and OKC for example) although occasionally I was asked to be quite low, follow a VFR corridor, or occasionally s...
